Coming Monday, DC is scheduled to reveal its Roadmap to recovery. ------------------------------- http://www.abcnews.go.com/sections/business/DailyNews/daimlerchrysler010224.html ------------------------------- In the article, it sited the DC mistake of voerproduction of the older minivan's right up to the intro of the new ones, AND the mistake of under producting the in demand PT. ------------------------------- If under producing the PT was a mistake, to correct that mistake, DC increases PT production. Maybe, this will be commented, on Monday. Don't forget, when sleeze dealers price the PT for $4999 over msrp, the plant and DC gets not a dime of that over msrp greed lust profit. DC get's a constant, approximately, $1,500 per PT unit sold. So, DC logically, should increase the PT production, out the wazoo, and force the dealers to sell them at $1,000 under msrp, due to large production of the PT. And when they do, the dealers will retrun to a more normal profit, and the plant and DC will still get their $1,500 per PT unit, and hense, DC will make a FORTUNE! While making the customers happy, by providing large production quantities, forcing the dealers to compete for the PT business, and hense the customers pay less for their PT. MEVER forget the sleeze dealers that sold PT's over msrp. Never buy anything from them again. No matter how low in price they go, to try to strugle to stay in business. ------------------------------- Maybe a few PT hints will emerge tomorrow. ITs a long shot, but it woudl be great to see a bit of info on the 2002 PT model changes to expect, 2002 PT production, anything on the GT, and anything on fuel efficient engine offerings, and additionally, more powerful PT engine offerings to come. You can count on the fact, that someone has presented top management, with some very detailed palns for the PT, on all these PT subjects. But, how much top management, will release tomorrow, of thsoe details, we will see. |

Well, its Monday. Here's the "Turnaround Plan": ----------------------------------- http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/010226/dem004.html ----------------------------------- The only product comment, was that the new viper would be launched by year end 2002. ----------------------------------- Management must be really under pressure. Why they would mention the Viper to shareholders, that isn't going to make DC big bucks, and don't mention aggressive expansion of the high volume profit contributor PT, is beyond me. The one product, that DC could cheerfully justifiably an "increase and expand" production, rather than the dismal contraction that is required in the rest of the product line, is not mentioned. I hope DC, at least internally, understands, the benifit to DC presently, to aggessively expand an "in demand" vehicle unit, the PT. And hense, should be moving speedily, to offer both additional fuel efficient real engines for the PT, such as a 45 mpg hwy turbo diesel engine, and also, a 215 hp turbo gas 4 cyl engine that gets 30 or more mpg hwy, And also, a smooth, long lasting v6 with about 200 hp with over 30 mpg hwy, as well as new exterior colors like ruby red (now offered on the Sebring and Stratus), and aztec yellow (or inca gold), and a new interior color in a med light taupe, in additon to the current dark taupe interior color. And get these option available as soon as possible, with increase production to near 400,000 pT units a year. DC certainly now has the idle capacity availble, from shutting down other vehicle lines. And also, add "one" more wheel option offerring, keeping all the nice wheel options they have now on the PT. They also shoudl be working on coming out with an additonal PT model, such as a little flare off the rear of the PT, similar to the Rolls Royce look. Agian, keeping the model they have, but increase the variety of models buyers have to become interested in. Hense, expanding the market even more, to meet rising production levels of the PT to 500,000 a year or more. And the GT? People are ready to buy the GT. Where's the management discussion on bringing the in demand GT to market as quickly as is reliably able to do? |

IMHO this is not about profit. DC wanted Jeep and basically would love to see the rest of Chrysler disappear. Also, if no profits then lay offs and plants "idled" are easier to accomplish. From the little I paid attention to about the union contracts of Chrysler, DC would not want this contract for its european workers. I think that might explain why DC did what it has done with the PT. The old supply and demand at work. Say there is too much supply, Chryslers in general, for the demand and you have a good excuse to do just about anything.
