Default loose headrests

I'm looking for solutions for keeping my headrests (front seats--especially driver's side) from vibrating up to their top position instead of staying locked down.

I read a post which suggested spreading the steel posts apart but that doesnt work for me.
Could a type of loc-tite be a solution?
I prefer them to always be in the down position anyway.
I like them and dont want to remove them, just want to secure them in the down position.

I have the same problem. Both my first one and this one. The drivers headrest always rises to the top. I just leave it up now.

Well if I can't find another solution I will just epoxy them down. They bug me at the top position. Good to know it's not just me.
thanks

I have noticed that mine tend to ride-up if I bump them. Every once in a while, I have to put 'em back down.

Just took a look at them. If you pull them all the way up, they stop. You have a button on one post to allow the headrest to go back down. I noticed a hidden button on the other post. If you push both buttons, you can pull the headrests clean out. I also noticed that the last notch in the post was square, not tapered.

I'd be willing to bet that if you filed the notch that normally sits in the catch, square (remove the taper but don't deepen the notch), it would lock in that position. Of course one of the problems is that you'd remove the plating and expose the steel, which could rust. But considering you're threatening to use epoxy :-/ , you sound a little desperate.

No guarantee on this suggestion. I havn't done it myself. Just some thoughts.

Howdy!
This has been happening since delivery day,
May 17, 2000. In March of this year, I finally
asked the dealership's people to check it out;
their conclusion: That's just the way it is,
won't stay in the down position, and is probably
that way because you're short (5'2")---
well, now, ain't that an attitude! <g>
These are the same people who can't figure out
(or hear) the crunching noise my Cruiser makes
in left-hand turns (an old Dodge truck noise).
The dealer service manager did offer to glue
the headrest in place, but I passed on that.
If it's not working right, screwing it up further is not a solution. <g>
