Default How are the PT Cruiser's

I am considering ordering a PT Cruiser (2002) so it will be waiting for me when I return from overseas. I like the looks and have read some good reviews, but how is it after you put some miles on it....basically what I'm asking is for likes and dislikes. Thanks for any input.

After 15k miles, the worst part is getting the baked-on bug guts off the thing. Also, for some reason, Sprayway is the only glass cleaner that works quick and easy on the windshield. (Supply ran out and all the others I've tried aren't nearly as good and the store I got it from is OOB) The ride is way too smooth for a vehicle this size. (Smooth as glass at 85mph, which some police seem to dislike.)
Other than that, I really like it.
Maybe I'm the wrong nut-case to ask...

Hi Mark, I love this car. It looks different from every other car on the road and it's fun to drive too. I'd say the only bad thing is the gas mileage (I have an automatic), but if you're not on a budget or need it for commuting many miles to work, this may be the car for you. I was told it would get better gas mileage after you put some miles on it, although that was never the case with any other new car I bought, but I wouldn't trade this car for any other on the road!

If you can stand gas mileage
in the low to mid 20's (the
2002's have a lower numerical
ratio, so they should be a
bit better) then it's a very
solid, multi-use wagon/truck/
car that happens to look cool.
You'll like it.

After 9 months, the deliver from DC was as expected. We loved it. Oh...no baby here, but a brand new Cruiser (according to baby birth would have been 10 days late). On Feb 22, 2001 we got ours and love it that much. Just remember, you are buying the middle age, middle america dream come true. That comes with only a 4 cylinder engine, crappy gas mileage and a slightly beefed up dealer price to boot. No great high power car here, but it truly has it's own rewards when being driven. You will never feel as good about driving as you will behind the wheel of the PT.

You've come to the right place to find everything you want to know about this car. Read through the forums and you will find that just about all of the owners could spend hours telling you about the joys this car brings to us and you will also find a few problems as any car will have. I feel I know about them first from the knowledge I find here from a lot of wonderful people who really care about their car the same I as I do. I have never driven a car that is this much fun to drive. I love the feel, the ride and the looks. You have to drive one if you haven't and it will be love at first drive. that is if it isn't love at first site already!

Best thing I ever did for myself was buying this car.
I look forward to driving everywhere, it picks up my spirits after work, I still get looks everywhere I go.
The only beef is that I have to wash it so much, but that's because I feel so bad when it's dirty.

I LOVE THIS CAR

I've had mine for a year, 13K miles, and it's as solid and smooth as the day I brought it home. Nary a squeak or rattle to be heard. I've averaged 23+ MGP over that year, with a high of 28.7 and a low of 20. I helped start a local club, we now have 40 cars, and get together at least once a month. Unexpected expenses have come up in building shelves for all the toys (33 various sized models), books, magazines, and photo albums. Not to mention the minor mods to the car itself. I drove RX-7s for 20 years, and thought they were great. But I've never had as much fun with a car as I've had with this one. I recommend it!

Mark, my advise to you is... JUST DO IT!!!!!

Once you drive it, wax it, accept the compliments, accessorize it, and live with it, you'll see why it's received soooo many awards. It's not just a car, it's an attitude. Now, go get some attitude!
