Has the PT Craze Cooled Down, What do you Think?
I think it has to a point. Most of my friends have just walked on to the dealers lots and bought them without orders. Also here in Toledo Ohio you see them all over now. It is still in demand, but the ooooohs and ahaaaaaa are not there anymore. |

Living in the largest city in Canada, Toronto, it's still rare to see PT Cruisers around here. I still get a lot of stares while driving and at red lights.

I think it depends where you live and how many PT's are on the street in that area. I still get looks and even a few people have come over to me and said how much they liked my PT but I think in the Maryland area (near DC) its not what it was a year ago. It's still a lot of fun to own and take care of, I hope a lot of other people can share in the fun.

I'd say it has cooled a little. I pass a couple of other Cruisers each day. Still get lots of looks but maybe not so much staring.Pretty much every dealer in the area has one on the lot for sale at MSRP. On the accessories side it seems to have heated up. I was talking to the guys who tinted my front side windows and they were saying that there are people coming in willing to spend anything to get mods done. I am in Vancouver BC Canada.

Here in Northern Ca. the trend is still hot and heavy..Sure, dealers have one or two on their lots but they're asking premium prices. (and getting it!) No matter where I go, I'm stopped and asked about the car and have had numerous(generous) offers on the car!

Have to say I've had even more interest lately than when we first got the KanCruiser. Passed a guy on a fully-tricked out Harley day before yesterday and we both gave each other the "thumbs-up"; car still has the capacity to make me and most everyone else smile when first we see it. Had a fellow come up to me in a grocery store parking lot and start quizzing me about availability, prices, equipt,, etc. -- when I got done with him, he said he had to have one.
I love our car so much I haven't even been compulsive about figuring gas mileage, even with prices hovering around $1.70 a gallon. I did talk to a co-worker who said her daughter had a chance to go to the prom in a PT and said she would never ride in such an ugly little car; I suspect the kid has no real frame of reference. Those who seem to think the car is "ugly" really are very seldom true car people, and often more interested in hearing the sound of their own voice than appreciating what their eyes behold. I don't necessarily think the Cruiser is the most beautiful car ever built (33-34 Ford 3-window coupe owns that title, in my mind), but it is a great design, especially when you consider the folks who gave it the green light could have played it safe and produced another ho-hum jelly-bean. |
