Default Fixing door ding? (sort of)

OK, we've had our Cruiser 9 days (NINE DAYS!) and while I was out running errands this morning some jerk nicked the plastic side moulding on the front passenger's door. >>) We haven't even made the first payment yet! Is there any way to fix this? There's a small chip in the moulding now, and the spot is roughed up. Or is this part something that's easy to replace?

Thanks,

Kris

If its a chip, you can use some sort of chip filling method to make it look better. If its a ding and the paint is fully intact, you can use a place like dentx. I had this place fix a pretty bad ding (paint not loose) on my classic chevy. You would never know there was a dent. They are not cheap though. When I did it it was $220 per panel and up to 3 dings per panel. I had only one. You may want to wait a while. To let the dust settle, you may be able to live with it in time. The first week I had mine, it got a 2 inch thin scratch. I filled it with a blue colored filler and have learned to live with it. I can point it out quickly but it will take a closer look for somone else to notice. Good Luck!

That molding is fairly easy to put on, but a bit of a paint to take off. It is just held on the door skin by some 3M goop. It is getting that goop off that is the pain.
I have no idea what those panels cost, but given how much some are charging for windshields, it could be a pricey bit of molded plastic.
Perhaps it could be the "perfect" excuse for taking those moldings off all the doors and replacing them with a strip of polished stainless steel...
It's a thought.

Hope the rest of your cruising goes smoooth!
