My registration is IN the mail Wayne!!! I'm arriving early, and Tweety and I are gonna play till you guys arrive!!!
Matter of fact, the ol' gray PT has never been on Vegas Blvd, unlike his mamma, and he's ready to show his stuff. The Grand Canyon is also on the schedule, after the event.....so what a weekend we're all going to have!! The Riverside Resort people are SO cool, they knew RIGHT where to put me and they were quick to tell me some info about getting Tweety down to the hotel from the airport.

Thanks for posting about PTRR5, and I can't wait to see everyone...... especially Dave and Mara!! Tell him hi for me and we'll see you all in March.

With the news of Dave Davidson going back into the hospital, the PT Community in Dave's town has vowed the PT River Run WILL go on, in honor and a sign of friendship to Dave.

It will CONTINUE to be a event that is unafilliated to any one club.....it has and always, and WILL always, be en event open to everyone. Everyone is welcome to be there, to just have fun, or to volunteer....(I'm sure they can use a few extra hands!!)
Laughlin's Riverside Hotel and Resort is catering to the PT Community. Bring your EZups, there will be a guy there lag bolting them down for a VERY minimal charge. Lag bolts are required. He also removes them for you.

The Riverside will also allow you to stay one additional night, on either side of the event dates, at the low cost of $42!!!
A group of the Cruisers are going to the Grand Canyon AFTER the event, so if you're interested, stay tuned and I will post more details.

All of Dave and Mara's friends are going to make sure this event happens....
come join the fun and help support an event that is dear to Dave's heart. What a better way to show someone you care about them, than to carry on what he started?!?!?

If anyone has any questions, wanesworld is an intrical part of the PTRR Staff...please email him and I'm sure he can help!

I'm sorry that I forgot to add that the PTRR5 will be operated under the Dave Davidson Productions, and Dave's charity of choice has always been, and will be again in '08, the Leroy's Boy's Home in Laverne, CA.

A note from the PT Riverrun Event Coordinator Janis Campbell

I received a call from Dave Davidson this evening!!

He's still at Riverside Community Hospital.

Says he feels better every day!!

He's wondering about the Riverrun and how things are going. This is a GOOD sign.

We're getting lots of registrations every day!
Things are looking GOOD.

Jan

Wink Re: Dave Davidson's PTRiverrun 2008

AFTER the PT River Run in Laughlin, a few of us will be traveling over to Williams, AZ to spend the night on the 16th and going to the Grand Canyon on the 17th of March. We will be staying there again and checking out on the 18th.
Some will be taking the Grand Canyon Railway from Williams up to the GC Rim. www.thetrain.com/
There are surprises in store for you, that choose to take the train. Everyone that has taken it, says it's well worth the $79 cost.
That charge includes the State Park $8 charge to enter the GC Park. That time of year, we will be riding the BUDD train.

If you choose to drive, getting you and your PT in the GC Park will be $25, unless you have a National Parks Access Pass. I will be driving my PT up to the Rim, because of my scooter.

Being that Williams is 146 miles away from Laughlin, we thot it easier to check out of our rooms at the Riverside on the 16th, and make the drive to Williams. Driving and doing the GC in one day is a little much for some of us!!

I have picked the Motel 6 WEST in Williams for myself to stay in, because it is a new Motel 6, it has good reviews and it is close to the GC Railway Depot. Motel 6 Motels Williams, AZ
(If the link expires, go to www.motel6.com and enter the #4010 location.)
I got the INTERNET rate of $41.64 each night for a DBL occupancy.
There are several motels, so check them out and make your choice.

In reference to some asking about the 2 different times of the train's departure, I called The Railway and they let me know this:

One train leaves at 9 AM and one leaves at 10:30 AM.
They only have 1 "Club car", which is the Railway's version of a Bar on Wheels. It appears they only offer the Club car for 4-10 days at a time, not all the time.
On March 17th, there will be 2 trains running, one that will be pulling the Club car.

She did recommend paid reservations, that being Easter week. But she also said with 2 trains running, the trains won't be as crowded.
They have a special presentation Old West Shootout that happens before Departure time, so we should be prepared to be at the train depot a 1/2 hour early.

1st train- 8:30 am Shootout w/ 9 am Departure
2nd train-10:00 am Shootout w/ 10:30 am Departure

Since we'll be staying there in town, it'd be good to make the first train....you'll have 1 1/2 hours more at the GC. That will be the crowded train, so 1 month out would be a good time to make your paid reservations. They give AAA and AARP discounts, and you might ask them about other discounts.

Once we get to the GC, there's no game plan but I would advise you go to the Grand Canyon website and decide what you want to do, the area is 14 miles long and there's TONS to do!
I bought my online tickets to the IMAX Theater, and got the online discount. I paid $10.56 vs $13.80. So it pays to look around.
Grand Canyon National Park : Travel and Visitors Center

Hope to see you there!!

WOW going to the Grand Canyon sounds like a lot of fun......hope a bunch sigh up for that trip.

Another note on Dave Davidson.

Dave is starting to call both Jan Campbell and myself almost daily now and is very up beat. If anyone would like to drop Dave a note or card here is where to mail it to.

Riverside Community Hospital (RM#207Dave Davidson)
4445 Magnolia Ave.
Riverside, Calif. 92501-4135

I am sure he would be delighted to hear from any of you out there. It would be such a thrill for him to be able to make it to the Dave Davidson PT Riverrun Event in March.......somehow I feel with all of our prayers and positive thoughts for him it could be possible.
