I'm dieing, anyone have some tips? I'm not usually affected by allergies but this year my eyes are burning and itching and I can no longer breathe through my nose!
Not to mention I JUST cleaned my car and it's already yellow to match my vinyls. -Krissy

Wipe eyes with a warm wash cloth a couple times of day. It helps clean around the eyes to help with the itch. You can also use some of eye moisture drops to help with the dryness. Use them carefully though. And if you wear contacts make sure you are really keeping up with cleaning them it helps. And don't sleep with them in right now. If all else fails Patenol for your eyes(RX only) Love this stuff..
Since your eyes are reacting its also a good time to toss any old mascara/eye make-up since old stuff can irritate the eyes too. If you are bothered at night try a warm shower before bed and benadryl is wonderful for sleep. It will stop your reaction but not do a lot for your stuffed up nose until it really kicks in. Not really for the daytime it will make you sleepy. What stuff to use during the day? Well that is hit and miss since what will work for me won't work for you. I used Allegra for a long time, since I couldn't take ClaritnD the side effects were horrific for me, but over time Allegra stopped working and the ClaritinD works wonderfully now. Zytec I have seen the ads but haven't used. But since you are stuffed up I would for sure use something with a decongestant in it. So that means what you want is behind the counter at the pharmacy. But take it carefully the first day the side effect I get usually is I feel kinda foggy headed. So watch for that. If you get your nose under control see if your eyes clear up, I know it sounds weird but mine react the opposite way, my nose goes off then my eyes go crazy but if I get my meds working they both calm down. And if you really start to have an attack I shower the warm steam helps open your nose and wash off what pollen is in your hair and fresh clothes so you don't put that trapped pollen back on. And for your PT you can get a Cabin Filter @ the dealer its a bit of a pain to install but you can do it yourself or with the help of a friend who is handy with tools. It comes standard on export PT's but we don't get it here in the US but it would help filter the air in the car. And if you have A/C heater filters in the house its probably time to change them. Wet dust when you clean around the house, damp cloth to pick up the dust and not kick it around for you to react too. It might also be a good time to give the dog or cat a bath, even just a water bath to lessen the dander in their fur. Yep the cat buy extra band-aids and clip their claws before you bathe them ![]() Can you tell I suffer from horrid allergies? If its green I'm allergic to it. Even money can make me sneeze.. ![]()

Jo- I find it funny you moved to where you did if you're allergic to green stuff. Boy, you have to be MISERABLE most of the time!!
![]() Krissy-No tips other than to say give saline sinus washes a try. The specialist highly recommended them to us & they do seem to help. Buy the reuseable spray bottles & then make your own solution to keep it affordable (don't use the nasal saline washes if your ears are hurting!). The doc told me the saline solution "recipe" is 1/2 Tsp. non-iodine salt & 1/4 Tsp. baking soda. I used snack baggies & made Tim about 2 weeks worth of dry solution mix at a time. He just adds warm water fresh each morning & uses the wash in the shower. It's a lot easier that way. I don't have allergies (thank goodness!!) but my husband is in the same boat as you guys. He's had a sinus infection since last year. 8 rounds of antibiotics haven't killed it, so Thurs. he goes in for surgery!! Keep your fingers crossed all goes well. You know it's BAD if they tell a heart patient to go have surgery....the risk of infecting is pacemaker outweighs the risk of the surgery, I guess. I'm scared for him...but I'm a serious chicken when it comes to anyone I care about having proceedures done! I'm so affraid of general anethesia I actually had a lumpectomy done under local only & took the pain of them cutting the tumor out! (now that is chicken ).PS- For the car, try a California duster. It's not the end-all-be-all...but it helps! That & detail spray.

Hi Rachel,
I do know what you are talking about concerning sinus problems..The Doctor put me on Drexoral before it was sold over the counter....I bought it in bottles of 100 pills....then, I suppose after using me as a Guinea Pig they figured it was ok to sell it to other folks. LOL If I don't take a pill every morning I can hardly breath....Now when I go to buy it....they take my drivers license number down, and they only let me buy one box at a time....seems the drug culture uses it to make meth....so I can only buy 30 pills at a time...but, It does help me ....You might try it...I moved to the Napa Valley for four years, (away from the coast ) and my sinus's cleared up...(didn't have to take anything) when I moved back...right away had to take it again....check it out...PTpreacher![]()

Last week I drove round trip to Jersey and back here to NC, 5 hours up with the top down. Figured out a new and interesting way to clear my sinuses.... drop the top, and place my face just a tad higher than the windshield and tilt my head back - 80 mph air spray up the nose....lol

Actually Rach the rail helps keep everything washed down so I've good for most of the days. Now when it stops raining and everything is allowed to bloom full bore I could be in for it bad. And I was not gonna let Matt get away, what I do for love..
But another thing is that allergies change over time, so most of the stuff up here I haven't been around so I may flare really bad for a while then it will settle down. Sinus infections suck. I wish Tim all the best I've had 3 nasal surgeries and they all sucked. All sucked for different reasons but they sucked. But the relief of finally having my nose drain after 9 months of it being swollen shut was awsome gross but awsome. He gets a gentle hug from me!
