Default Vehicle Reliability Research

Check out Truedelta . A lot of us dis consumer reports and other reporters of vehicle reliability; join up here and help this guy do better research than the others do.

BTW, it's not only for PT Cruisers, but apparently he needs more PT owners to sign up...

I only "dis" Consumer Reports about their patently obvious bias in favor of Japanese makes. Their methodology is fine. I will admit, though, that this site does have some real possibilities.

I just discovered this thread. Thanks for posting it, PTRich.

I'm the person conducting this research. At this point I still don't have enough PTs enrolled--just 25 for all model years. And one of those in my wife's 2002 Dream Cruiser Series I.

Especially since we own a PT I'd really like to include it in my research. I need at least 25 for a model year to start. So if you like to help provide others with better reliability information, and receive it for free yourself, please sign up.

Still looking for more PTs.

My wife's 2002 Dreamer had a rough summer: torque converter and wheels were replaced. Front control arm bushings also need work. Hopefully that's it for a while, because she still loves the car.

Getting closer, with 58 PTs total, but still not to the minimum required to start collecting data for any model year. 2001, 2002, and 2003 all about halfway.

I also have an '02 Dreamer. I noticed when I washed her yesterday, my left front wheel's chrome was coming off in about a 3 inch square patch. did your dealer give you any grief???? Mine has about 55,000 miles.
Ihad my lower control arm bushings changed last year some time.

My sense is that the wheels on the Dreamer I will fail 100% of the time if driven on salty roads. I've come across many Dreamer I owners with the same problem. In my case, the alloy corroded around all four valve stems, so that the stem-tire seal degraded and the tires continuously lost air pressure, ultimately 5-7 pounds per day.

In my case, Chrysler Customer Care picked up half the replacement cost. Also be sure to order the wheel as a Mopar Accessory, not as a replacement part. Much, much cheaper that way even though its the same wheel PLUS red center caps are included.

Of course, since they deigned to pick up half the cost of the wheels they refused to pick up any of the $1,700 cost to repair the transmission. Or the $800 I still haven't spent to replace the control arms.
