Default End of an era - posting guideline change

Starting immediately, the following post content will no longer be allowed in any board of the PT Forums:

'bikini models'
nude or topless models
illustrations of the same

This includes posting them in stand-alone threads (-of-the-day type threads), replies, signatures, avatars, and post milestone congratulations messages.

NOTE: This applies only to the above types of pictures.

Additionally, the following is also not allowed:

Off-color jokes

I have tried to put more open-ended guidelines in place in the past, but they have failed to work. I apologize to all of you who met the spirit of the previous guidelines. Continued complaints as well as abuse by those who insisted on pushing the limits of existing guidelines have forced this change in the rules.

I understand that some of you will interpret this to be a limitation on your God-given right to say and post anything you want anywhere on the Internet. To that I respond:

"This is not another sign of the downfall of society, of PC run-amok, or of people who need to get a grip. It is a response to you thinking that PTE is your own personal playground to post anything you would like. Some people don't appreciate the adult content and since PT Cruisers are not exactly an adult topic, I feel no guilt tightening the focus of allowed content to be a bit more PT-centric."

Note: There are several other forums and sites on the Internet where you can post and/or view this type of content. PTE is no longer one of them.

Thank you for respecting these changes and following them as best you can. When in doubt, please don't hesitate to ask before posting.

What is considered to be "off colored"?

and does this include the "Hunk" of the day for the ladies?

In the end the decision is your to ban things but I will say this. You don't see anything on the forums that you don't see on TV everyday. You are trying to impose the morals of the fifties witch like it or not no longer applies. What you are proposing is censorship. I'm on the forum everyday and haven't seen anything that offends me. I think if you put it to a vote the folks who want things banned would lose by a landslide

I'm sorry you feel that way.

I understand that many are not offended by some of the content that is no longer allowed. You must understand that I am required to set the rules of conduct here and have done so.

Also, you seem to have the impression that the decision to change the guidelines was purely because a few were offended. That is not true. I have looked at this issue from both sides for several months now and decided that PTE is not a place for the content that is no longer allowed.

This is a PT Cruiser site. Many non-PT related things are discussed here though they use up server resources, make it harder to find the actual PT Cruiser content, etc. However, in the interests of lively discussion and community, it is allowed. My changing my mind on a few types of posts does not sign the end of the world. The sky is not falling. You still have the right to view girlie pics and dirty jokes til your heart is content...just not here.

PT_ADMIN ====>

As much as I might disagree with the new posting guidelines, there is nothing I can do!

You are right, this is a Cruiser Forum (and we all love the Cruiser), and I will honor the new rules.

...and you are also right, there are many other places to view the Babes...some even in person !!!!!!

Thanx for PTE, and your support of PTE !!!!

LONG LIVE PTE !!!!

Cool

Folks....

this place is 'owned and operated' by Scott. Period. He hasn't asked for one cent from me or anyone else here for server space, etc... or space that wasn't donated... as far as I'm aware.

As far as I'm concerned.. this is HIS 'home'.. and whatever he says goes! [with my thanks, btw]

Yeah.. which is why I dont bother with TV.... and what exactly was wrong with the morals of the 50s??? Maybe they SHOULD apply?

Folks were nice to each other and had respect for other people... and they didn't wave their fannies in my face constantly.

sheeesh....

I guess the final point to made is... if the rules aren't what folks want, then it's REALLY easy to set-up a site that caters to your tastes and humor. That's NOT a knock on anyone at all. If you don't like the rules at your parent's house... move out and get a place of your own.

PTE is no different than life. You just have to either: 1). stay and enjoy the boundaries that are set-up, or, 2). be the entrepreneur and gamble on building the site that you think more people want. Hard to argue the facts of life ain't it?!
