I've used PayPal dozens of times. Several PT product vendors mentioned on this site from time to time accept PayPal as well (Streamline Designs for one). I've never had a problem, but I haven't used it as a seller (I collect, I don't let go of my treasures for any price!).

I didn't read the entire site but I would be skeptical of a group speaking out about such a popular service. You were right to ask informed e-consumers (like the PTE'ers!).

Alot of that in the article is true. But you can use paypal and not keep a balance. I maintain a zero balance and use my credit card to pay for stuff. When someone pays me I accept it and then transfre the money to my bank account promptly. No they are not FDIC insured but if they don't keep any of your money then no worries.

this site looks fishy- something like the lucentsux.com and nortelsux.com sites...

I too use PayPal, mostly a zero balance like others say- cash out when you have cash, use the card to pay, ... never once have I had a prob, I have used it about 20 times. And, I am in Canada.

What Mr. (big)Johnson and Sean said!

I use it a lot for E-bay stuff. Not one hassle over the last 2 years.

PayPal will not let me register using my MasterCard credit card so no I do not use it. I would probably not anyway because as a seller on Ebay you also will be charged a nominal fee when someone buys from you and uses PayPal in the transaction. I use BidPay instead. Flat $5. fee under $100.00 then a small fee % after that(most of the time I let the buyer deduct this amt off of my total--its much faster and I know it will arrive in about 7 days or so, and, I ship on confirmation of the order) Larry

My wife has used Pay Pal a lot with her eBay items for about a year and it has always worked fine. I know that she cashes out on a regular basis, never a problem.

You may want to reconsider. That nominal fee is alot less than $5.00. I think I paid 10.00 fee for a 550.00 transaction.

Sci-Fi: I manage a web site for the Orange County Regulatory Affairs Discussion Group where we make extensive use of PayPal for members to pay for membership renewals, seminars, etc., and have not had one complaint in about two years. Granted, that's not a very long time, but it's how long we've been making it available to our members.
