Ever since moving to this mostly rural county in North Florida over 20 years ago, I've noticed that a lot of people have trouble turning the letter "N" the right direction when placing it on one of those signs with the changeable letters. Strangely enough, there will usually be another "N" that is not backward in the same message. I've also noticed that whenever we travel to other sections of Florida, they don't seem to have this problem, even though many of the workers there are of foriegn descent. As we're getting back near home we'll start seeing the "N"s, and I'll say to my wife : "Well, honey, we're back in the Land of the Backward "N"s !" Does anybody notice this phenomenon where you live? Or could it be something here in the water? I'm beginning to think that there might have been a lot of inbreeding here back in the old days...

It's funny, we live on a side street which is off of a street named Ashlin Drive. On a few of the street signs in our neighborhood they have the N backwards in the name Ashlin. I've always wondered how it could possibly end up that way. Now that I've read your post I understand that it's because Georgia has so many immigrants that they really don't know that they're putting the N's on backwards.
