I know that those shows are not popular with people not into politics, which exactly makes my point. Franken and Grafilo rely on humor, that is where the made a living. That won't translate into a good political show, which is what they are trying to build. Humor and sarcasm are good for occasional use in political talk shows, but to compete against the "vast right wing radio dominace" (which is the basis for thier programming) they will have to have serious discussion. I don't think they are capable of serious disscussion on a regular basis (like what will be needed to survive), and therefore, they will fail. It is the apathy of the general public that has made politicians the way they are. If more people took an interest in what gov't was doing, the politicans might pay a little more attention to the general population. But considering that roughly 25% of the people in the country are the ones choosing politicians, its no wonder they ignore us. |

Liberal talk radio just entered the Los Angeles market, which has the most listened-to talk radio station, KFI AM 640. And what's great is that KFI isn't a "conservative" format - mostly it's four or five people speaking the truth about the socialists in the US.
Besides, Liberal talk radio has always existed - they run ABC, NBC, CBS and most of the cable/satellite channels. ![]() Last edited by PTRobert : 1st April 2004 at 03:20 PM. |
