Maybe so, but they are relying on folks who do take politics seriously for thier audiance. After all, that is thier stated intent, to provide an outlet that counters the "right wing control" of talk radio. I would assume that you are not a regular listener to Limbaugh and O'Rielly? The folks that don't take politics seriously are not what drives thier shows. It is people that take thier beliefs seriously that make those shows as big as they are.

I do not take it seriously-why should I?? What they have to say is not earth shattering-all politics are corrupt. Just to let you know-those shows are not popular with most people that are not in politics. If you are a militant republican-then you take it seriously. Just like the militant democarats will take the new shows seriously. What a pity when they could be doing something to contribute instead of carping at each other on the radio.

I am not remotely implying you should take it seriously. That's your choice.

I know that those shows are not popular with people not into politics, which exactly makes my point. Franken and Grafilo rely on humor, that is where the made a living. That won't translate into a good political show, which is what they are trying to build. Humor and sarcasm are good for occasional use in political talk shows, but to compete against the "vast right wing radio dominace" (which is the basis for thier programming) they will have to have serious discussion. I don't think they are capable of serious disscussion on a regular basis (like what will be needed to survive), and therefore, they will fail.

It is the apathy of the general public that has made politicians the way they are. If more people took an interest in what gov't was doing, the politicans might pay a little more attention to the general population. But considering that roughly 25% of the people in the country are the ones choosing politicians, its no wonder they ignore us.

I agree completely!! I am sorry if you think I was disagreeing, I was just trying to point out the lack of serious approach to politics by most, also. This is why politics bothers me most-you can't wade through the bull to even figure out who is the best candidate and most people don't contribute. It is kinda sad that the people in this country are given the power to affect change in government, but none take the time.

Liberal talk radio just entered the Los Angeles market, which has the most listened-to talk radio station, KFI AM 640. And what's great is that KFI isn't a "conservative" format - mostly it's four or five people speaking the truth about the socialists in the US.

Besides, Liberal talk radio has always existed - they run ABC, NBC, CBS and most of the cable/satellite channels.
