Well you could take the trolli, go to old town, down town, gas lamp district or eating *expensive* take the cruise in sea port village, go to balboa park, Well since you like old school stuff I would recomend the corvette dinner in Hillcrest if you can get past all the steriotypes about hillcrest being gay town since you were going to san fran I would think you could. The Corvette Dinner is a 50's style dinner, even have a 50's corvette inside on display, food is good just understand teh waitresses are semi rude on purpose thats their job dont be rude back. There is some auto musumes, and other things like that. During the day if you want to see a beautiful beach go to Coranado island, you could drive or take a fairy taxi. There are some cool shops a long the beach.
Where is your daughters surgrey going to be at? UCSD Scripps where? if its at UCSD Scripps there is Corvette dinner near by the beach is like down the road and so is the mall incase you want to go take a break during the surgrey. -Cory

Hi Phatdad!
MiniHemi gave you a lot of great spots to check out. The Coronado area is beautiful. La Jolla also has nice beaches and shops and restaurants. As for any Cruiser stores, I don't think there's any in the San Diego area. I think most of them are up in the L. A. area. |

I just came from there and there are some very nice hotels in town. Coranado is very nice but away from everything.(not walking distance)
Go to old towne and take the trolly tour. That is very nice and gives you alot of history about San Diego. The Zoo is fantastic. We also went whale watching. (very cool). Bal Boa park is very neat also. This is right next to the zoo. This is where many of the museums are. There is a giant pipe organ that plays on Sunday's and little houses that represent differant countries open on Sunday also. La Jolla is not too far north of San Diego and that is a quiet little area with very nice beaches. There is a area where the seals come up and lay on the beach. That was very cool to see the babies. One final thing. We stayed at the Handler at hotel circle. We were NOT impressed. Very old and not very nice. Plus they charge an additional $8 a day for your car to park in their lot. Even tho your a guest. You will have a great time I am sure. ![]()

You can also drive out to Point Loma and see the lighthouse there. it's a very scenic overlook, plus you can watch the surfers off Sunset Cliffs. It's a hop, skip and jump away from Seaworld.
Ocean Beach is next to Sea World and they have a long pier to walk out over the ocean. YOu can feel the ocean tide under the pier as it rolls in and out. I think it's one of the longest piers in Cali. And again, surfers use the area right next to the pier. I used to body surf there all the time. And right across from the beach and pier is a place called Oscar's to eat at... Ocean beach is my old home. They were right about going to Coronado, it's got a great bridge to drive over. The old Hotel Del Coronado is cool. It's a cool big old wooden hotel, I think they filmed some like it hot there. I used to take visitors there, not to stay, but maybe go to the outdoor patio for drinks and watch the ocean! I don't know if Croce's old bar is still down town. ( JIm Croce's) In Old Town you could go to the Old Town Mexican Cafe. They still have old Mexican ladies in the windows that hand pat the tortillas. And they make a mean margarita. Balboa park is very neat, lots of museums, the zoo, botanical gardens to look at. Great place to wander around in. I can't say where to stay anymore, I've been away too long.
