Default I think it's "Goodbye" to a loyal friend....

Last night, on the way home from work, my husband spun out in the rain on a freeway onramp. After doing a 360 , he managed to not hit anyone. BUT- as he was waved back into traffic by the cars all backed up behind him, he was struck at about 35-40MPH by a motorist merging off the freeway onto the ramp. Luckily my husband & the other driver were unhurt, but the poor Mustang wasn't so lucky. We think it's totalled, but we are holding out hope it can be fixed. The other guys early '90's Toyota truck looked fixable, but it's front end was in pretty rough shape too.
What a good little car this Mustang was! We bought it new in 1999 , as a leftover from the prior year. Never gave us any real trouble & always was a head-turner with it's flashy Chrome Yellow paint. I guess a 2005 Mustang to replace it is out, as they aren't releasing it soon enough
( Fall). Looks like a Harley F150, or maybe even a Yellow F150 will replace it. Or, even better, the Mustang will get fixed.
Just had to share....it was a real bummer since we were coming up on the first time in our lives where we would have paid off both our cars & had NO MORE car payments!!
Ah, well, at least no humans were hurt!!

Before...

After... doesn't look that bad in these pics, but the entire front end is shifted about 2-3 inches to the right...( unfortunately my camera battery went dead before I could get any decent pics).

Glad to hear you are all fine and no real damage to the living. Cars can be replaced and that is just fine. Be well Rach and tell hubby too as well!

Thanks Lisa & Terri...
I am only slightly less crushed than if this was the PT. I loved that Mustang & it was MY first new car, ever. In fact it was supposed to be mine & the PT Tim's...but I stole away the PT.
I think the frame is bent, like I said the pics make it look like a dent, but it's really pretty bad...
The Mustang will definitely get a good send off!
I'll find out where they're taking it & be sure to let the Mustang club folks know where they can find PERFECT parts including engine, tranny,K&N FIPK, Underdrive pulleys, glass , majority of body panels, Limited Edition Bullit Mustang wheels with near-new (expensive) Eagle F1 tires, Flowmaster exhaust, & perfect fabric interior including a carbon fiber kit , flamed gauges, on & on & on!! Maybe donor parts will save some other Mustang??!! ( I hope so).

cant beleive the other guy didnt see tim as the car is bright yellow!!
i like the stealth treatment w/ the v6 badges.
Personally I think you should part it out, bent frame cars are no fun even if they pull them straight. So sorry for your loss

Rach, as much as we love them, cars are just metal and plastic. I'm just glad to hear your husband was not hurt.

All I can think of is Neil Young's "Long may you run" which I heard he wrote about a car he loved.
Glad no one was hurt.

Sorry to hear about that Rach. It really did look like a nice car! Maybe you can just buy a beater to get you through until those new Mustangs come out. It would be worth the wait!!!!

Rachael, sorry about the 'Stang. That's a real shame. As you said, at least the PT wasn't the casualty in that accident.

Before you settle on the F-150, Harley or not, please test drive a regular cab, short bed 1500 Ram HEMI. You might find that another Mopar will fit in your stable just fine. Good luck!
