Sheesh.

The orginial post regarding the suicide rates is just silly. Fellow servicemen in this thread have already spoken about what it's been like in previous wars.

Folks do love to cling to that DUI and coke possession thing don't they. He was caught with the narco in '72 and the DUI was in '76. All I can say is god help me if my entire life was judged on something I did when I was 26 - 30 years old. Clinton was cool though it was like the off-color things he did where while he was in office... oh wait... nevermind.

If you're scandalized by either what Clinton or Bush or hell any of the stuff our other Presidents did before they got in office you should shut yourself in a bunker sealed off from the rest of the world. While Clinton's in office transgressions do stick in my craw a bit and I'm hardly applauding Bush for any of the things he got caught doing I also know I don't want a saint in my Whitehouse. As the saying goes, "I don't trust a man that don't cuss. It goes against nature." Throughout history the leaders of this great country and every last soldier in all branches of our military have done what they can to keep you safe in your little house where you are free to spout off your misinformed opinions and assumptions. You're welcome.

Some of the folks chiming in on this thread sound like the same ilk that are somehow able to paint our government as apathetic because they don't take action in foreign lands then condemn them as warmongers when they do. You can't have it both ways. This country wasn't founded by pacifists hiding in their homes, peeking out the windows waiting for trouble to land on it's doorstep why you would even want us to act in such a way is beyond me.

Hell no it ain't perfect. But it's a helluva lot better then anything else out there.

[quote=satellite66]As far as Bush and possession.
Why does someone have to prove they do not have something-you should have to prove they do-beyond a reasonable doubt
. Where is your proof Lisa?

Check the public record

One more time regarding WMDs in Iraq pay attention and read who the quotes are from. Saddam had the burden of proof.

If any were found then you would have proof and I would not have any more questions about it. Prove it! I do not care what comes out of the mouths of mis-informed politicians-PROVE IT!!! Show me the WMDs!!

Highly credible intelligence?? Give me a break-their intelligence has been so far off-remind me, how long did it take the "intelligence" to locate osama? How many months for saddam? That is HIGHLY credible-more like laughable.

Exactly,
What the he!! does something George Bush did 30 years ago have to do with TODAY ?

I sure hope that the people who can't get over G. Bush's transgressions from 3 decades ago, don't ever have a child or other loved one, that for one reason or another gets caught up in drugs or alcohol, cause if they do, they will never live it down.
Even if they get their sh!t together and 30 years later become President, too bad, not good enough, cause remember, 30 years ago they drank too much.

Drug and alcohol abuse is a pretty common problem and people can get in alot of trouble long before they come to realize they just MIGHT have a problem. During their drinking or drug use, they don't always make the right decisions. UH-DUH.
Sometimes they even drink and drive.

What the hell did clinton inhaling (or not) have to do with his administration? It got brought up all the time. What's sauce for the reps is sauce for the dems-and they all use it.

Yep, I use the clinton quote "i didn't inhale" ONLY because it is so funny.
If I had thought clinton would have made a good President, that statement would not have stopped me from voting for him.
Even if he had admitted to inhaling and that he smoked pot on a regular basis back when, it would not haved stopped me from voting for him.
I would judge him by the kind of man he is now.

Maybe I am incorrect, but it sounds like you are saying, in some of your posts, that because G. Bush may have had a drug and/or drinking problem 3 decades ago and that he was arrested for DUI 3 decades ago, he does not deserve to be President, and it should be used as a reason not to vote for him.
I believe alot of good people at some point get knocked down in life.
What's important is, do they get back up and do they have the strength of character to stay up.

It was brought because that was Clinton's soundbite when the question was asked. When Cinton is mentioned it's a big joke but Bush's drug use is an abomination. Way to be consistant.

Lisa I realize that nothing you see that is positive about Bush or the war will alter your thinking. You want to believe the best about Clinton and his intentions and the worst about Bush. It really amazes me that a rational adult is giving more consideration to a murderous dictator than to the President of the US. This guy killed hundreds of thousands of his own citizens but you want to believe that he never had WMDs or would use them against the US.
You keep calling Bush a liar but remember who was disbarred for perjury. Who lied to the American people for 8 months about his relationship with Monica?

It really amazes me that a rational adult is giving more consideration to man whose lies led the country to war causing the deaths of almost 600 American soldiers & countless Iraqis than to someone who lied about an affair. Boy have you got your priorities screwed up!

Difference being that YOU believe GWB lied...that is your OPINION. It is not a PROVEN fact. Many believe he did not lie.
On the other hand, Bill Clinton did lie. That is a proven fact.
