Default Re: Oh boy, bush is just wonderful!

I'll ask the same question, what does Bush have to do with this? I'm serving in the military now, have been for twenty years. When Bush came into office it was a huge celebration for all of us, having not received a pay raise in eight years! Clinton did nothing for the military and was not respected at all.
99% of the military force knows there's more than a good chance of going in harm's way. Bush put us in harm's way. That's our job! Suicide is high among the military (compared to civilian stats of the same age group-- although some people point out that due to the availability of weapons and training, military folks just might be "better" at it and succeed more often). The rate has gone down over the years (and just recently began to see more press as we went to war and had a slight peak). Depression among spouses is even more rampant. I don't know a wife (can't speak for husbands) that is not on some type of medication for it. Those military spouses have the worst job of all and many did not volunteer for it (unlike their significant others). I'll get off the soapbox now.

Hi patoloco,
WELCOME to PTE.
I agree with you, and if you think it was bad under the clinton administration, just thinking about how it will be if Kerry is elected, is truly frightening.
I am not in the military, but one of my clients is a National Guard Base. It was sad to see the cuts that had to be made when clinton was in office. There just wasn't any money.

Signs up in restrooms, "try using one paper towel"
No lights on in offices where people had to work, in an effort to save money on electricity. It was really dark in some offices.
This base has been one of my customers for a couple decades and I never saw things so bad.
We figured out a way to supply the base what they needed free of charge during about half of clinton's administration. They needed it and had no funds to pay for it.
We're back getting paid now, which is nice

You'll find some people will blame President Bush for anything and everything.
Remember the hurricane in the south Atlantic a week or so ago ?
That never happened till Bush took office, sooo YEP, it's George Bushs fault
Didn't have one of those the whole 8 years of the clinton administration.
