Default Non-PT Tech Question

I have noticed that the new Durango and newer Magnum do not offer a limited slip rear end, instead they offer "traction control". Question is, do they actually use a computer controlled limited slip in conjunction with the ABS (like Ford does) or is it done only using the ABS system like on the PT?

It is done with the brakes. Trac controol does not work with limited slip because both are wheels turning ( suposidly ) equaly. So if they are both turning the trac controol has nothing to do. But with a open dif... the wheel that is spining will have the brake applied to the point the other wheel will get the power. You can add a limited slip to a truck with trac controol. Its just that the trac will not have anything to do, as the sensors will allways read the same wheel speed.

there is no substitute for an LSD.
i would trade traction control for it any day, heck ive got all the traction control i need, its called dont step on the gas so hard.

my moms G35 sedan has trac and no limited slip it is junk in anything other than dry, the damn thing works so hard it overheats the brakes and has to shut itself down. cant even put the friggin thing on a dyno without that electronic crap kicking in

dont even get me started with the vdc or yaw control, that junk is just plain dangerous when it grabs a wheel and you dont expect it, totally upsets the balance.

sorry im all bent today

Does anyone know for certain how Dodge is implementing their version of "traction control"? I know that on most US makes w/ front wheel drive it is done with the brakes (costing you momentum going up slippery hills). I also know that Mercedes has a "traction control" system using a computer modulated limited slip rear differential, (Ford also does this on the CrownVic I think). Question is, which method is Dodge using on their rear drive units? The crappy put the brakes on system or the limited slip diff route?

The 70's I remember pretty well. Most of the 60's are a blank.
