I would really like to see Mel Gibson give the MILLIONS of dollars that the movie brings in, to various Christian charities.
Or really, ANY charity that is making this world a better place. Let him keep a fair amount for his efforts and donate the rest. I have a problem with him making a PROFIT from the crucifixion of Christ. |

As a Catholic I have a bit different take on this project. I spent 30 years in the music industry so I think I know a thing or two about "hype". Think it means anything this picture was put out at lent? My "hype" detector went off long ago on this one.
Sorry guys I spent 12 long hard years in Catholic School where the crucifiction and every other aspect of the church was constantly beat into me. I honestly don't need to see it again in a darker more violent version........I'm not interested. Frankly I "look on the bright side of life". Pat

Maybe Mel should do a remake of Life of Brian next.

Wow, this whole thread is getting way off topic (big surprise there!)
In answer to the original question, yes I plan on seeing the movie, and in a theater. I don't plan on buying the DVD when it comes out. When I watch a DVD, I do so for enjoyment and relaxation, not to get emotionally distraught. I think seeing it once will be plenty for me. As for Religions/Churches making money, thats probably a topic for a whole new forum. Politics and religion are 2 hot potatoes, for sure. |

Well, since the majority of the major media outlets have done nothing but criticize it, the Hollywood crowd is talking about "blackballing" Gibson (he will never work in movies again), and the icing on the cake, Taik doesn't like it based on the reviews he's read (I think I can guess where those are from), then the movie must be doing something "right". Even if I don't watch it, I will buy the DVD.

I heard, James Caviezel who played the part of Jesus in the movie, was struck by lightning while they were shooting the sermon on the mount scene.
Lots of people there and HE got struck ------------------------------- |
