Default at least she went out with dignity

Concord's last commercial flight:

The delta-winged plane made a stately final approach west along the Thames, granted a low-altitude approach for a last look at Big Ben and Buckingham Palace among the sights of central London.

Flight 002 landed just past 4 p.m., minutes after two other British Airways Concordes. One flew from Edinburgh, Scotland, carrying winners of a competition, and the other had taken off from Heathrow an hour and a half earlier and carried invited guests on a loop over the Bay of Biscay.

I took the wife and kids to the Toronto airport for its last Canadian take-off. Rather a touching moment....

Nice photos. Thanks. I'm sorry I never made the time to witness a take-off or landing of the Concord.

Nice pics, Sean. That's one of the last few planes that held to the design principle of "if it looks good, it'll fly good." CADD -designed aircraft may go together easier start-to-finish, but they really lack a sense of style.

Very nice pics. When I lived in NJ the flight path was over my house and I used to stand and watch it fly by. It was pretty low too!!. Very cool plane.

Just an example of technology with no longer a a sufficient market to support it. Folks just aren't willing to pay the real costs for supersonic flight across the Atlantic.

Well I get to see supersonic aircraft overhead every single day. I live and work under the flight path of Moffet Federal Airfield where two seater fighters drop in all the time. Okay, they don't seat 100 civilians and I'm mildly disappointed that I never had enough spare $ to fly to 'cord but I still run outside to get a glimpse of the USAF's finest. One of the twists since 9-11 is that they all fly over the base and turn 360 degrees on final approach. Awesome babe!

Still cruisin after all these years,,,
