Good question! Thinkin' of the most direct route! I'd have to check out a national road map to say for sure, but my plans are to do it in about a week, so there's a little room for side trips!

South of Chicago, I'll be taking I65 to Nashville, where I switch to I24 to Chattanooga, where I nab I75 right to Sarasota! It's a week, week & a half moseyin' trip, so SLIGHT detours are welcome!
I hope I pass near a few of ya!

Overtake,

I'm only 16 miles from I75 as you pass thru central Florida. I'm about 100 north of Sarasota...BUT, I'll have to catch you another time as I'm leaving next Friday for Maryland to see the grandkids and I'll be there till the end of September. Have a great trip and the only warning I can give you is that your traveling thru Florida right in the middle of "Love Bug" season. These little bugs come out twice a year and when they hit your car, they stick like glue. Whenever you stop for gas or whatever reason, get the little buggers off as soon as possible.

Hey Kev...

Sounds like you'll be taking the route east of St. Louie...

But if you change your mind and decide to drive through our Gateway City... let me know...

Any way you go... have a safe trip... we'll be heading down there in the spring to catch some waves... by the way... where will you be visiting in FL?

BK
