Default One thing I hate about shopping Wal*Mart style

Okay, I admit, I work in retail. I also pound this concept into people's heads at work, though it doesn't always sink in. Anyway, while at Wal*Mart buying a couple jugs of oil and a jug of car wash concentrate, I was waiting for the lady in front of me to sign her credit slip. Well, just then, another cashier yells out that she can take the 'next person in line'. This jerk behind me practically falls over himself leaping over to that cashier. Really, even though it was busy and there were 20-some cash registers open, there were only one or two people at each one. It irritates the hell out of me that people are so arrogant and impatient these days that they don't literally let the next person go ahead, but rather leap-frog the entire line and try to be first in line. A__holes.

I've started drilling it into my co-workers that, in such a situation, they are to get off their happy behinds and walk that 'next person' away from the line so that they can indeed be taken care of fairly. (I've even had a few compliments on such things from customers.)

I gravely dislike rude people. Just had to vent. Now I'll go do a Zen thing and bond with my PT. It's bath time.

I hate that too. Whenever a cashier announces she can take someone I always yell Hurry run! to the idiots tripping over themselves to get there. They act like they can't wait another minute to be rung up.

You're lucky, the Wal-Mart here has about 20 registers & only 2 or 3 are open at a time. With the long lines, it takes more time to get out of the store than it did to shop

Yeppers, rude and inconsiderate people are one of my biggest pet peeves.

My pet peeve is when you hold the door open for someone and they walk right past without a smile or thank you. Maybe next time I should pretend to be the door person and ask for a tip. They apparently seem to think it is my job. Boy they sure do demonstrate poor examples for the kids of today.

Exactly!!!

I do find the typical Walmart shopper (not us PTers of course) are some of the biggest idiots out there.

Me too! I cannot stand the crowded stores, and i cannot stomach the way they do business and how they treat employees. I am sure there are some that like working there, but they are in the minority. When walmart opens a new store, they recruit employees from local competitors, offering nive increases in pay. They overstaff the new store, and use the expereinced people they hired away to look good during the first 90 days, and also to train all the inexperienced(cheaper) people they hired. After 90 days, they fire the experienced(expensive) people.
WalMart sucks!!!!
