Okay, got a mildly complicated question here for you guys.
At my house, I have a cable modem that hooks into a router. This computer, an iMac, is plugged into the router. The router uplinks to a hub a few rooms away. A Macintosh Cube is plugged into the hub (more computers to come later). The hub uplinks to an Apple AirPort Extreme base station. My brother has his iMac down the hall, connecting through the AirPort base. My laptop has a wireless card. For a few days, it was able to connect through the AirPort base. Last night, the base cut off when my brother shut down his computer and we were only just able to reconnect his iMac. My laptop will no longer connect through it. Seeing I wanted to keep wireless access and possibly extend its range, I got a Wireless Access Point (WAP)/bridge. My laptop picks up GREAT, very strong signal from it but cannot connect to the network through it. I have no uplink ports remaining. The only port on the router and the one on the hub are both taken, and the AirPort base does not have an uplink port. How do I connect the WAP so it can communicate with the network so my laptop can get access again? (I also realize we have a lot of network devices for so few computers but we're VERY spread out with only a few long cables and some areas we can't run cables, plus more computers are coming later. )RN

Well, actually, nevermind this...I kept trying and did the same thing I did a dozen times before and now it works.

Thanks man. It all works now. It's all TCP/IP. AirPort base is on channel 10, my WAP on 6. Restarted laptop, AGAIN, and it suddenly started working. Given how it hooks up, I could place it farther along the wired portion of the network to extend its range further in the house...although all walls here block signal...not just a little but completely. Phones have a range of 1-2 rooms and this wireless networking only has a slightly larger range, with doors open. At one point in one of the halls here, I can hook up the laptop and get 90% signal strength, take 1 step and get 0-10%.
