Two of the horse's have horse collars on to pull the wagons.

Wagon races were popular around that time and I think It's a wagon race, and the cars are on both sides of the start/finish line as there clearly are several horse and wagons on both sides.

The wagons apper to be empty and the horses on near side look like there cooling down after a race, this might be the pits for horse racing.

Then around 1923 chuckwagon races started.

Lordy, Lordy! It was the first invasion of the Saucer-Men!

See, the Saucer-Men came to invade the earth earlier than the Fifties! And they were gonna inject everyone with alcohol outta their needle fingernails and take over!

It was really scary, since folks back then didn't even know what a flying saucer was! And they thought men from Mars would be kinda like Frenchmen...you know, kinda dirty and speaking a language no one understood, but definitely too chicken to attack. Boy, were they wrong!

But the teens back in the...ummm...'Teens were as smart as the teens back in the Fifties, and they also figured out that bright light vaporized the Saucer-Men, so they put their cars all around the Saucer-Men like they did the Fifties, turned on their headlights, and, zap! No more Saucer-Men!

The earth was saved!

If you want me to identify any more old pictures, please let me know.

Thanks. You know, the Saucer-Men were gonna invade Iraq, but they figured even them Iraqis have headlights on their cars.

Thx. Phantum, Your grandmother just could be right, I had not heard that explaination before but it makes good sense. For the time it was taken (1910-1914) it really is something, looking close you can see the telegraph lines, the steeple on the church in the background etc.
I have had the photo for a long time now and always woundered what they were doing and a really big thank-you to all the replies, yes even the saucer-men (who knows).
