Default Peace activists

With all of this talk of impending war, many of us will encounter "Peace
Activists" who will try and convince
us that we must refrain from retaliating against the ones who terrorized us all on September 11, 2001,
and those who support terror.

These activists may be alone or in a gathering . . . . . most of us don't know how to react to them. When you come upon one of these people, or one of their rallies, here are the proper rules of etiquette:

1. Listen politely while this person explains their views. Strike up a conversation if necessary and look very interested in their ideas. They will tell you how revenge is immoral, and that by attacking the people who did this to us, we will only bring on more violence. They will probably use many arguments, ranging from political to religious to humanitarian.

2. In the middle of their remarks, without any warning, punch them in the nose.

3. When the person gets up off of the ground, they will be very angry and they may try to hit you, so be careful.

4. Very quickly and calmly remind the person that violence only brings about more violence and remind them of their stand on this matter. Tell them if they are really committed to a non-violent approach to undeserved attacks, they will turn the other cheek and negotiate a solution. Tell them they must lead by example if they really believe what they are saying.

5. Most of them will think for a moment and then agree that you are correct.

6. As soon as they do that, hit them again. Only this time hit them much harder. Square in the nose.

7. Repeat steps 2-6 until the desired results are obtained and the idiot realizes how stupid of an argument he/she is making.

There is no difference in an individual attacking an Unsuspecting victim or a group of terrorists attacking a nation of people. It is unacceptable and must be dealt with. Perhaps at a high cost.

We owe our military a huge debt for what they are about to do for us and our children. We must support them and our leaders at times like these. We have no choice. We either strike back, VERY HARD, or we will keep getting hit in the nose.

Lesson over, class dismissed

If the world were a peaceful place, I would be a peace activist, but the world is full of all kinds of horrible things and that makes it necessary to try to stand up for those that cannot stand up for themselves.

That's funny. I didn't know Saddam Hussein attacked us on Sept. 11, all this time I thought it was Osama Bin Laden. Silly me.

Chances are these people marching for "peace" are NOT the ones that were rushing into the streets surrounding the WTC's and helping people out of that hell hole!!!

The passion behind an activity can all too often be misplaced and influenced by the ignorant!!

the taliban, and saa'dam has or had both........................

Yep, silly you.
It seems you conveniently overlooked the very next sentence from the post you quoted.

" AND THOSE WHO SUPPORT TERROR "

We've been dealing with bin laden and have moved on to include,
" those who support terror "

I think saddam qualifies .

however you want to take it.....

these people who haven't a clue as to what is going on amazes me.....

those people over there want you dead. plain and simple. you are a non believer and so you are not worthy of life.

do they know you? No.
have you done anything to them? No
do they want your family & friends dead? Yes

the average American goes around in their little bubbles, nothing can happen to me, i love everybody. these people on the other hand, hate you. no reason they just hate you.

coming back from Indy today, i noticed they were stringing razor wire around the Indianapolis International Airport.

razor wire, they use that around prisons to help keep the 'mates inside.

why then around an airport? to help keep somebody who may want to kill an entire planeload of people away.

they are also putting up a green opaque barrier, about 8' to 10' feet tall. why? so you can't just stand alongside the fence with a shoulder fired missle and take out an airplane.

Indianapolis, the middle of Hoosierville. and they are taking these kind of measures.

read your history, read the bible, these people have fought for thousands of years.

if no one is around to fight, they fight among themselves.

turn the orther cheek, they will cut it off.

take your own conclusions.

i am not a war monger. but, i have been to a lot of places around the world compliments of Uncle Sam. i have seen the attitude of other people in the world.

giving aid and comfort to the enemy,

axis sally,:
Mildred Gillars, AKA "Axis Sally", was a native of Portland, Main. She was studying music at Hunter College in Germany in the 1930s and fell in love with her professor. He later enlisted her for German radio propaganda programs from a Berlin radio station. After the war she was brought back to the U. S. where, in 1949, she was found guilty of treason for a broadcast made just before the Allied invasion of Europe. Sentenced to 10-to-30 years in prison, she was eventually released in 1962. Until her death in 1988, she was a music instructor at a Catholic girls school in Columbus, Ohio.

tokyo rose:
Most of the propaganda remembered by our submarine sailors and other Gl's is found in Masayo Duu's book, "Tokyo Rose. Orphan of the Pacific". It revolves around Iva Toguri d' Aquino who was born in Los Angeles in 1916. She was a first generation-or issei-child of Jun and Fumi Toguri, who were not American citizens. Shortly thereafter, Iva's father put her name in his family Japanese register. She was now an American, born of Japanese parents.

Time went by and in 1934 the girl who was to become known as Tokyo Rose entered Compton Jr. College in California. Later she graduated from UCLA. After graduation, Iva went to Japan in the middle of 1941 to visit a sick aunt, Shuzi. It was the day after the fourth of July, 1941-lva's birthday-when she sailed on the Arabia Maru for Kobe, Japan. Thoroughly American, Iva could not read Japanese, but her uncle in Kobe was helpful. And she had other troubles. She and some 10,000 other Japanese-Americans were stranded in Japan when war broke out.

In mid 1943 the American Division of the Japanese Overseas Bureau (NHK) was looking for English-language broadcasters. Iva had a part-time job at NHK as a typist to supplement her income. A number of other English-speaking women worked there too, among them Ruth Hayakawa. And in order to gather more English-speaking people, orders were sent out to POW camps. It was at NHK that Iva met Major Charles H. Cousens, mentioned earlier.

The pressure was on at NHK to put out their propaganda in good English, and Iva was chosen to be the new woman announcer on the Japanese "Zero Hour" entertainment program. She participated but absented herself frequently. Other girls at the radio station filled in for her, but not to the satisfaction of her superior, Major Tsuneishi. During one such absence, Iva married Filipe d'Aquino.

When the war ended, General MacArthur's troops rounded up war criminals, and Mrs. d'Aquino found herself in Tokyo's Sugamo prison, along with premier Tojo and others. Questioned from time to time during her incarceration up until 1946, Iva still was not formally accused of being the Tokyo Rose of what some called legend, nor was it clear that she would be tried as a war criminal. Iva was accused by one reporter to have confessed to him that she was the Tokyo Rose. She denied that and said many other girls worked in the same radio station, any of who could have been Tokyo Rose.

On Oct. 25, 1946, Iva was released from prison, the authorities not being sure that she was the guilty one, nor were they sure of her citizenship-was it American, Japanese or Portuguese.

Veterans groups, mothers, and Walter Wintchell, the famed US WWII news commentator, all opposed that return home from Japan of this "enemy of democracy", as Walter Wintchen called her. Even so, the State Department Passport Division, an Oct. 20,1947, said it had no objection to issuing Iva an American passport. Still up in the air was the decision to try her as a traitor and to let her back in the country without protest.

Among the many newspaper correspondents covering the war were Clark Lee of INS and Harry Brundidge of Cosmopolitan. They had been on the trail of Tokyo Rose since the end of the war, and were instrumental in having her locked up in the first place. And because of press reports by them and by Walter Wintchell, the US Department of Justice on Aug. 17, 1948, had the US Army arrest Iva, to be taken to San Francisco to face a grand jury.

On Oct. 8, 1948, Iva was formally charged with treason.

On March 11, 1948, Miss Gillars was found guilty of treason against the United States. About the trial of Roma Sally this writer has no knowledge.

Attempts by Iva's principal attorney, Wayne M. Collins, to obtain witnesses in her defense, were stymied. He did manage to get three through, Major Cousens, Ken Parkyns and her husband. Iva's trial began on July 5, 1949. Hers was the principal trial on the west coast, while Alger Hiss was being tried on the east coast, both attracting wide audiences. An alleged confession that Iva was Tokyo Rose was presented, and the bribery of witnesses against her was brought out. Much false testimony was bandered about.

It was brought out that another female, Ruth Konzaki, broadcast for the Japanese on the "German Hour" while Iva was known to have spoken on the "Zero Hour" in adjacent NHK studios. A Miss Kramer voice also was heard from these studios. So now who was telling the truth? The name Mrytle Lipton known as "Manila Rose" also was brought out. The latter did the "Melody Lane" broadcasts.

Questioning by Iva's attorney, Mr. Collins, lasted four days. Now it was the US Federal attorney Tom deWolfe, who began questioning her for the prosecution.

Late in Sept. 1949, after much questioning directed at the Judge, the jury found "Tokyo Rose" -the world hardly knew the name Iva Toguri-guilty of Overt Act VI: A broadcast to the US forces about how they were now stranded after the loss of their ships at the battle of Leyte Gulf. On Oct. 6 the court-Judge Roche sentenced Iva to ten years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Ten years later the government reminded "Tokyo Rose" that she still owed the fine. By 1972 paid off her debt.

hanoi jane:
Jane Fonda, nee movie queen, nee pampered child of privilege, media mega-mogul Ted Turner's former spouse. In evaluating the objectivity of today's media that so often idolizes her, while keeping aware that lies are sometimes also spread against her, one basic truth should be kept in mind.

Ms. Fonda was dubbed by Viet Nam vets with another name. It shouldn't be forgotten how she earned it.

Jane Fonda gave aid and comfort to our enemy, while ordinary American citizens were fighting and dying. She did great emotional injury and injustice to all Viet Nam veterans, and their families.

Far worse, she did great harm to all American citizens, because she helped polarize us against our government, and against each other.

"Truth", is all too often only subjective opinion, even with the best of intentions. The polarization Ms. Fonda helped encourage has gone far beyond expectation of legitimate differences in interpretation, it has led to general distrust. Distrust of those with differing political and religious convictions, of those with differing skin color, of our elected officials.

One positive by-product, it has helped make us aware of the need to always keep in mind the possible bias of those empowered to decide what can be presented to us as fact and significance, in today's current events.

sean penn,

martin sheen,

all fine upstanding American citizens..............

do you really want to be in the same catagory as these people?

if so, please go and help saa'dam, he needs all he can get right now. tell him that you as an American, want to help...

he will parade you around a little bit, tv and radio appearances and then when it no longer is an asset to have you around, he will kill you. well he won't, he'll just have it done.......

this i believe says it all..............

"Our nation entered this conflict reluctantly, yet with a clear and firm purpose. The people of the United States and our friends and allies will not live at the mercy of an outlaw regime that threatens the peace with weapons of mass murder. Now that conflict has come, the only way to limit its duration is to apply decisive force. This will not be a campaign of half-measures. It is a fight for the security of our nation and the peace of the world, and we will accept no outcome but victory.
