Default WOW...that was REALLY CLOSE!

What a terrible day at my employer...

CEOs from our home office flew in to our St. Louis office to announce a massive downsize...

Our department went from 150 employees down to 14 employees...

I'm still shaking...

Luckily, I am one of the 14 employees still there...

THAT WAS CLOSE!

Wow, that was a massive layoff for one dept. Glad they didn't eliminate the whole thing. Hate to say this but if you survive past March, then you should be ok. Dec-Jan and Mar-Apr are the usual layoff times. Seen too many meetings like that over the years and a few times, the people don't even have time to clean out their desks. Just grab what you can and hope you didn't leave any personel items behind before turning over your badge and getting escorted out of the building. :/

Congratulations on being a survivor. Of course this means that you'll have to do the work of 10 people now!

:/

A large insurance firm... most of the layoffs were insurance agents, quality and training dept.

We still have a large staff of customer service reps, claims and IT... Our building holds up to 700 employees but our dept. was scaled down to our Internet Team...

I work as a Business Analyst but also helped build and establish our Internet online quoting site and was one of the lucky ones...

I have been there over 12 years and only missed 2 days of work during my 12 yrs.

I have worked at almost every position at our company from insurance agent to supervisor to project specialist to IT test and development to Business Analysis...

Oh my god! I can't imagine the trauma such a visit would bring. 136 people downsized without notice? That's horrible!! Even if you managed to be in the 14 lucky one's group, you must have a whole different outlook on tomorrow now. I think I read that you've been there 12 years? Man, that's sad. I sincerely hope that's it, that there aren't any more cuts that involve you.

Bach and I will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers because we know something like this has got to have an impact on the entire family. For whatever comfort it brings, may God be with you in this stressful time.

Thanks for the nice word, Rob and Bach... It is almost as bad being one of the 14 left to rebuild then it would have been to be on the other end...

Everyone received a great severence package but is still a kick in the stomach...

BTW... I do not have a family to support so I am the only one here...(but I do have a mortgage and many other bills...) Guess God was looking over me...

I do have a very supportive girlfriend who is the greatest...
