Larry you can do it. I did a few years back by going cold turkey. Judy quit shortly after I did. We used zingos sugarless mints http://www.zingos.com to help out. Popped one in my mouth when I would usually smoke. In the morning, after meals, talking on the phone etc etc etc. Getting into fitness and eating 6 smaller meals instead of 3 large ones helped even more. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/castronova

Try to stay out of bars and places where people smoke for a few weeks. Stay away from alcohol too until you are ready to have a drink without feeling the urge. I drank a ton of orange juice. Orange juice has properties in it that flushes nicotine out of your body quick. When you are ready to drop the patch try doing that.

It's more in the mind than anything else. It's a habit mostly because you are used to doing it.

It's so great to smell and taste things again. I now could tell if someone smoked a cigarette from across a room. Never realized how nasty I smelled when I smoked. I stopped putting salt on things because I can taste them so much better now and some of the things that I did salt taste salty to me without it. Some stuff even tastes too sweet now. There's more pros than cons when you stop man! Just do it!

If you need some more tips or just someone to talk to about it feel free to contact me anytime. I'm serious!

Just think of all these cigarette additives you won't be inhaling anymore:

Yeah, what DEF said. Watch out for the urge to pop something into your mouth.
If you aren't careful and diligent, you could balloon up from all the Krispy Kremes you substitute.

YOU CAN DO IT LARRY!!!

Eighteen years ago I went from 2 1/2 packs a day to nada, cold turkey.

Took a while before the urge went away, but if I could do it you can too!

This is inspiring me to make a change..... I dont smoke in the PT, unless its REAAAAAAALY necessary.... (ie idiotic co workers, customers, lost sales, etc) but I find now that im smoking more than I usually do.....and then all the windows are down!

I agree, stay out of bars!!! That helped me cut down huge. I only have two left in the package......this might be the time to do something...... we can have a quitters forum going.... heh heh.
