Default No Brake Lights

A new blog entry has been added:

No Brake Lights

Quote:
I drive a 2002 Pt Cruiser with abut 70k miles on it. At this time the break lights do not work. I have replaced the fuse and they blow out as soon as you touch the breaks. I have replaced all 921 and 3157 bulbs with new ones and replace the fuse and as soon as I touch the breaks the fuse blows out. The dealer what

It certainly sounds like a short somewhere...or perhaps the brake switch has an issue.

You may also want to post this in one of the forums rather than as a 'soapbox' post like this...you'll get more exposure.

The soapbox is for 'commentary' type posts (blogs, if you're familiar with the term).

If you happen to find out what is wrong please let me know! I have an 06 that has working taillights just part of the time. My passenger side tail light is subject to work when it wants to. I've been stopped on the street three times in the past month by three different people who say they have the same problem, take their PTs to the dealer only to be told nothing wrong.....Pretty much sucks regardless of what the problem is.....

Hey Blue, remove the taillight, if the 06 has a removable wiring harness switch it with the other side. see what happens. If you haven't switched the bulbs do that first.

AS for Shousman- you saw you blow fuses as soon as you touch the brakes- what about when you turn on your headlight. Remember your BRAKE light taillight bulbs also are your running lights. So if you don't blow fuses with your lights on I doubt you have a short in your taillights. If that is good I would agree and check your brake switch or disconnect your third brake light and try again.

Question- have you done any mods latley- like add neon or leds under the car that then screw may have gone into the wire harness and rubbed into the wire over time?

Well, the bulbs have 2 filaments so there is probably a short in the "high" lead that is the brake (not running) light.
