Default Uh Oh - Chrysler not decided yet on size/styling direction for the next PT Cruiser

A new page entry has been added:

Uh Oh - Chrysler not decided yet on size/styling direction for the next PT Cruiser

Quote:
Autoweek.com is reporting from a press conference with Chrysler COO Eric Ridenour where he discussed the future of the PT Cruiser.
At question, according to Mr. Ridenour, is both the size and styling direction that the next PT will take. If placed on the same chassis (as we've been expecting) of the new Dodge Caliber, Jeep Compass/Patriot, Mitsubishi Lanser/Evo/Outlander - it would be likely that the PT would be 4-cylinder/4-cylinder turbo powered, much like the current PT.

In a way, that's good. Other rumors of the new PT looking like a generic "crossover" SUV wanna-be left me cold. If it's undecided, there's still hope they'll come to their senses and keep much of the size, character, and styling.
Hey, I can hope, can't I?

Oops...looks like someone has 'discovered' the forum that will power comments to the new front page of the site.

Looks like I need to get the new site launched ASAP.

Great News
Maybe thay will listen to what sort issues PT owners have with their cars.
Still waiting for an option of PT with 2.2 CRD engine in North America that gets 58mpg,
Currently available in Europe only. . . . . bummer

If they can build the Jeep Patriot on the same platform as the Caliber they could build one that looks like a PT as well, hopefully if they do they will lose that damn CVT and give it a Real transmission with Real gears.

I'm with you on that one, Frank.

CVT's do feel a bit odd.

Chrysler is also working on a 'dual-clutch' transmission - that would finally give 'clutch-avoiders' a good, sporty alternative.

Talking Re: Uh Oh - Chrysler not decided yet on size/styling direction for the next PT Cruise

Why is it some of us fantasize about 58mpg PTs.

And some of us get Aroused thinking of a PT based on the EVO X.

Sure, it would be a 35K$ PT. But it would dust cars that cost twice as much, while still being good looking and hauling a fair amount of stuff.

(Does anyone have a tissue?)

Y'all do realize that this new item we're all commenting on was a way-old front page news item from the old site? Right?

Latest news still has Chrysler possibly killing the PT altogether after 2009.

If anyone hasn't already - you can sign the petition to keep this from happening over at SaveThePT.com
