Ratio is usually 50/50.
Vinegar and water or straight vinegar will also clean your windows, remove hard water spots, and strip off any dirt and grime, as well as wax, so be careful. Personally, of the recipes listed below, I don't use any ammonia or alcohol in my mix, just vinegar and water and just vary the strength/ratio depending on how bad the windows are to clean them back up to OEM or as new clarity. Here's a few homemade recipes: 1/2 cup vinegar to 1 gallon of water (or 2 tablespoons per quart) OR 1/2 cup sudsy ammonia to 1 gallon water (or 2 tablespoons per quart) OR 1/2 cup sudsy ammonia 2 cups rubbing alcohol 1 teaspoon liquid dishwashing detergent 1 gallon water (This one is less likely to freeze in cold weather.) OR Make a great all-purpose window cleaner by combining 1/4 cup vinegar, 1/2 teaspoon liquid soap or detergent, and 2 cups of water in a spray bottle. Combine in a spray bottle. Shake to blend. OR 4 tablespoons ammonia, 2 tablespoons of vinegar, and 1 quart of water, followed by using crumpled newspapers to wipe.
