Thanks to budget and styling I assume.
Per usual, front door speakers fire at your ankles, allowing their effectiveness to be at a poor percentage, a far cry from standing at Best Buy and listening at ear level!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Similarly, eyeballing the rear speakers, they fire sort of to the car centerline, and are lovingly aimed at that fine sound absorbant material on the rear seat backs and on the package shelf. SO My gut says substantial improvement using stock speakers (oh no, I dont get to talk to the Good Guys at Crutchfield?) by the following--- A. Do a major redo of the mounting of door speakers so they aim at the listener as much as possible. Some aftermarket speakers have tweeters that can be aimed, a help for those elusive highs. B. Likewise at the rear. There is NO CHAMBER for the bass to resonate in, nada. Relocate rear speakers rotating them so they fire forward, and add an enclosure to extend them likewise. now I already have added 12" sq. 1/8" plexi reflectors onto the pkg shelf, helps some but only soso. Drop the seatbacks so that same reflected souond bounces forward and you can EASILY hear trhe difference. Time for some redesign before buying new electronics components? ![]()

Yea the locations & positions are not optimal but sound is not straight line or beamed at you in the 1st place. It travels in waves in a circular fashion from the originating source. If it were to be beamed, then no one would be able to hear it if they weren't in it's direct path. If you want to better aim the rears, just build an angled spacer & do some triming to the plastic panel inside. If you really want optimium imaging from the rear, I have a pair of 2way seperates for sale in the marketing section I'm not planning to use. Then you can relocate the tweeter where you like. As far as the doors, Yea DC screwed us in firing them at our ankles. but then again, without rebuilding the panel, you can reposition the door speakers to fire at a better angle too. Its comes down to how creative you are & if you have the skills & tools to pull it off. Sometimes its just better to remove something & stare at it for some time. I have done installs in the past where I pull the car completely apart & go work on sometig else just so I can see the car apart & visualize what I might do to it. This way you don't get brain locked on what you are doing. The front tweets will help raise the image, but I would consider adding a volume control to them so they can be adjusted. I'm not keen on tweeters firing at the windshield. It tends to distort the real image I am trying to setup. As far as chambers go, a little sound dampening will go a long way in cleaning up the reflections & noises that occur in a car. You don't need to build a cabinet for all the speakers, the main objective is to keep the back sound wave from canceling the front wave we listen to. Also to keep the back wave from vibrating anything else behing it. That requires energy which takes awy from the sound energy we are trying to listen too.

Think we have two philosophies going on here....
One is 'the sound is not great so I will replace as much as I can afford, Its GOTTA sound better then" and De Udder is the 'lets really eyeball this stuff, see what we have bought and what is going on functionally, and how can we improve it getting max bang for the buck. " If U have done the first option, you care nothing for the second, you have made your decision. THIS thread is for the folks that waited and wanted anothter option that WORKED and was MINIMAL COST. This one be it!!! ![]()
