I have both XM and Sirius in my 2001 PT Cruiser (also both are in my 2000 Mustang and Sirius in my 99 Durango). If you cant afford the monthly subscription for XM or Sirius, try giving up those biggie fries and extra soda, that will pay for it there!!! I f you cant afford 33 pennies a day, you better look for another job. I love it when people say, "why should I pay for radio when I have it for free?" I reply, " why should I pay for tv when I can watch a few channels for free?" Duhhhhh.... lets see, 100 channels, digital quality sound, no commericals(on Sirius), less repeats, less dj banter, coast to coast reception, formats/music choices no longer available in most markets..the list goes on and on!! get with XM and or Sirius you cant lose!!!

I may end up driving truck over the road again (Kats, a company in your neck of the woods!), if I do I am thinking of getting the Delphi XM plug-n-play unit. Traveling across country all hours of the day and night not having to change channels every 50 miles or so would be a dream! XM is only $9.99 per month pretty fair price.
Sirius was reporting some money problems a few months back, still in the growth stage, so that kinda steered me away from them. Plus in NASCAR they sponsor Jimmy (never forgets) Spencer, and that alone would keep me from buying! If it was only for the car I wouldn't consider it, not enough time spent in it, plus the c.d.'s I have do me fine! XM BBS Forums for everything anymore, not just "curly girls!" XM Website

Get Sirius, its amazing. It doesn't matter how long you spend in your car, the time that you are in it becomes 10x more enjoyable - CD quality sound, no commercials, everything that you could possible like in music its all there.
Get it. The entire market is going that way, too. |

It's worth it!
I live in Los Angeles County in California where we have CRAPPY radio stations!! No matter which service you choose, both of them are very good services to have. The major difference between them is XM have commercials on some of their music channels but it cost cheaper per month at $10 per month. Sirius have no commercials on all of their music channels but cost more at $13 per month. People says that it's better to buy CDs or download MP3s instead of paying monthly service for satellite radio. Well, if you think about it, buying CDs will add up to lots and lots of money. If you going to download MP3's you need high speed connection which also cost lots of money. Than you have to burn the files into CDs and than you have to have a car radio that can play MP3s. Right now, I am doing an experiment comparing buying CD's, downloading MP3s, and satellite radio. So far I have more than 1,025 and I have more to download. Now imagine how much CDs you have to buy just to have that much music to play. And imagine how long it will take to search, download, buy CD-Rs, and burn the CDs. So as you can see, in the long run, it's cheaper and more convenient just to get Satellite Radio. |

Both XM and Sirius have had serious financial problems and neither are doing exceptionally well right now but they are getting better. A year ago it was rumored that neither would make it. Sirius does have more car brands signed up than XM and as far as the Jimmy Spencer/NASCAR thing, Sirius is just the main sponsor of the car, not the team owner or final deciding factor on the driver. But I understand the driver association thing, I resent giving Home Depot a dime just because of Tony Stewart. Did I just start a new flame war with that sentence?

I've had Sirius for 8 months now! I couldn't live without it! The only problem is when I have to listen to FM and get pissed when it seems that they think there is only one Bob Dylan song(Like a Rolling Stone), and no rock song is over 5 minutes long. Sirius does all their songs unedited for time. I have heard on the classic rock station stuff such as the 13 minute version of Shine on You Crazy Diamond, and a 22 minute live Led Zepellin track. And that is just their regular 'classic rock' station.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I am going to go for Sirius and have a complete after market unit put in to replace the stock radio/CD player
