i am working on putting mine together right now. i just have a dd 9515 and a jbl 1200.1 thrown in there right now. i need a new hu b/c using a line level converter with the factory hu isn't cutting it. i ran it in a comp that way with a cadence z7000 and a re xxx 15 and i only hit a 140 something. you can't get the volume set right b/c it has no volume numbers so i couldnt tune it. i am going to move away from the loud competition system to put in a sq oriented install. i have an old 84 caprice classic that me and some friends are fixing up for comps. we have 2 dd 9515's and 2 jbl 1200.1's. we hit a 155 at the last comp, but we are rebuilding the box to tune it higher.
i am looking at a new hu right now and the front runner so far is the alpine 9815. i plan to get some cdt hd's or classic series for the front and a us acoustics 4 channel to power the cdt's and some infinitys for rear fill i won at a local comp. i am thinking of getting an elemental designs e12a for my next sub in the install, but i want to get the front stage set up first.

btw, i am not bashing anyone's setup. i apologise if you took it that way. if you like it, then that is all that matters. i would just like to let people know that there are more brands out there that might suit you better. if you are just getting into car audio, then research before you buy. there are some great values out there if you just look. you might have to pay more now, but in the long run, it will be worth it.

No biggie. I have a frien getting into golf and I told him not to buy some clubs because of name but because he liked the feel of them. I guess speakers and kind've the same way.

yea, it is alot of personal preferences. although, there is a big difference when you hear some high quality speakers. If you ever decide to change setups, look into adire audio, elemental designs or resonance engineering. adire has the shiva(12") or tempests(15") which is in my opinion, the best bang for the buck. they sound great and still get alot louder than alot of the best buy stuff. i just want people to get the most for their money instead of spending more for something that isn't up to par.

adire sells them directly off of their site for $125 each plusw shipping. i believe that if you really wanted one you could find them for that shipped from one of their reps. on soundillusions. i happen to have a pair that i am selling but i believe they are both gone. if you have a little more to spend, you might look into an elemental design e12a or idmax 12. both of them are suppose to be awesome for around 300-400 i believe. i think i am going to find me a used 12a for my next setup. another one to look at is the re xxx series. i could post a thread about all these subs to look for if someone might think it could be helpful for the people here unless it would make people mad or something.

Saw some on ebay. $300 each. 4600 Max 1600 RMS. Little more power than I need but diehard competition people like yourself would like them.

Waiting for the best deal..

as of right now I have a MTX Audio 2 10's hooked up (a box one) then I moved it to the side.. and added My Brother's Old System a Bazooka Tube next to my Box Speaker.. and boy its POUNDIN alot of BASS. Gonna stick with those for now..
