Default PTY (program type)??

My son's 2003 Dodge Dakota has the DC model "RAZ" radio installed. It's similiar to the "RAZ" in my 2001 PT except that it has a feature called PTY. This allows the radio to search for stations by genre or program type. Evidently, some radio stations send a code on their signal to identify the program type and this PTY feature searches for this information. I've not tried the feature yet so I don't know if local FM stations in my area have this information on their signal. If the new PT's have this feature I wonder if any of you have tried it and how well does it work?

I have it on my '02 Cruiser, it's a waste, in my area anyway, 1 or 2 stations are programmed for it.

There are only a few in my area. My 2002 RAZ radio has that feature.

My 2002 also has that feature but only 2 radio stations are programmed for it. Pretty cool idea though. It also shows the name of the song playing and the artist or band.

I have that feature on my Pioneer. Will be nice when more stations use it.
