Yeah, I agree. BH recommended the Rockford Fosgates. I have a Punch300watt amp and a 12" sub and it rocks. Now have to do the rest of the speakers.

There are many brands out there to chose from. every shop wants you to believe that their's is the best & you should by from them.
The best thing to do is go to several different places look, touch & listen. If it sounds good on the board it should sound good in your car. But not always. An in-car listening test is always better. Arm yourself with as much knowledge as you can gather & then figure out your budget. If you wish to do it in stages. I have been collecting gear for years, some old & some new. then I decide what gonna be done 1st. To get better sound as cheap as possible to start decide if changing HU is what you really want. then do it. Add new speakers at same time or add later. Another thing most over looked is the speaker wire.Swaping the factory wire for quality wire will help also. Its more work but worth it. Then subs... but I could go on forever about that subject. Enjoy in what you do, & if it turns out you don't like it... just change it.

HU: Alpine and Pioneer both make great hu's
speaker amps: Alpine, mtx speakers: diamond, cdt, infinity, mb quarts, crystal, rainbow sub amps: jbl, crossfire, memphis, mtx, dei, cadence subs: elemental designs, adire, resonance engineering mainly, just stay away from things with peak output ratings, use rms. also, try and stay away from sony, pioneer, crunch, road gear and pyramid in car audio. If you need any specific help then you could email me. chad charwoods3@hotmail.com |

My favorite HU's are Alpine and Nakamichi and usually match them with their respective same make amplifiers that meet my needs. But also like/have used Rockford Fosgate and Kicker Amps in my other cars. My friend has a Soundstream amp and it is impressive. Speakers, IMHO, is a subjective choice. Everything depends on the music you listen to and what you expect/want your favorite songs to sound like. I find all speakers "color" the sound in one way or another. Then some like to argue which is better: 2-way, 3-way, and/or separates. IMHO, IF you have the room and there is no interference with anything, add foam baffles to whatever speakers you finally decide on.

rockfords and pioneers along with alpine are all ordinary lines that are popular. But when it comes to a sweet sounding and pounding system, you wanna go with competition level subs. Like audiobahn, kicker, JL audio, digital designs, sergio vega, ect.

Kenwood and pioneer are two long time standards. But as was said before, every shop will have there fave. Pick your price range that willhelp narrow down alittle, then do you want power and quality? Are you willing to go componant (seperate speaker for high mid low and do you want mults. all these answers slowly will chip away at the multitude of manufacts.
good luck it takes time
