I did that in mine. Just had to get a inverter that changed from wire hookup to rca hookups for the amps. Sound good to me but a aftermarket radio would do better.

I agree, you are better off getting a new headunit. The quality of sound from splicing in an amp on the existing wires is lousy. A new unit with amp preouts is the only way to go.

It will be extremely BASS heavy. But if thats what you like then go for it.
For those of you who prefer not to lose all the room in your car check out the Micro Sub Line by CDT. They make 8" & 10" subs that only require .25 cu ft or slightly more than that!

I picked up a pair of 8" subs at www.Zeb.com (I belive that was the URL) & they were not too expendsive.
They are not designed to "rip your head off". They are for those of us who want a bit more quality sounding bass without losing the whole rear hatch area.

(Gee I almost sound like a salesman there

Well it will sound good but with 2 12's you would need to atleast up grade some of your mid's and maybe another set of tweeters or you will just here the BOOM.

I have a new head unit, amp and 12" sub, with stock speakers. It sounds good, but is still somewhat base heavy. Was thinking about upgrade the midrange speakers for starters. 6"

Check into the Mopar OEM one it has a built in amp and fits in your side panel so you don't lose any space. I was amazed at the amount of bass it adds to your system.

I'm running a Pioneer powered 6" sub. I believe its only rated at about 150. I swapped out my head unit with a JVC Kameleon and the rear speakers with a JBL 5X7. The sound is just right for me. The powered sub can be easily removed and the cable stowed so you never even know its could be there. It is also small enough that I dont lose space for every day use.
So you don't need the 12's to have nice sound, but if you want to go that big we're behind you.
