Bass shakers... I thought of those too. still need a seperate amp to run those.
You can make your own if you are a tad creative. I could dig up the info I have some where on that if you like. Just PM me. Then give some time, I have it buried in a box in garage somewhere.

The guy at Best Buy put my remote bass control in the center console between the seats. Put it a little further forward than i would like, but it's an easy grab without looking.

I think adding 2 10 inch subs (with LOTS of power)would give you a tighter snappier bass. The bigger the speaker the boomier the bass.
You should also add a crossover so you get only the lowest bass out of your subs

Based on personal experience, that sounded reversed to me until I spoke with a colleague who had vast experience with audio equipment. He just indicated that the old Jensen 12" units I have at home happen to be of superior quality so they still sound REALLY sweet but generally 10" units would be less boomy.

My son finally managed to blow away the urethane surround on one of these 30 year old beauties. I took it in to have a new surround mounted. Upon pickup, the repair guy offered to buy the speaker from me along with its mate. Said it was one of the sweetest and tightest 12's he'd ever heard. Of course, the Jensen of today isn't the same company at all. Somebody just bought rights to the name and they're mediocre at best.

the coverter to the stock radio blows, dont go that way. Go for an aftermarket radio with seperate channels for the bass, mid, and highs (just has to have an equalizer basicly).

I kept my highs and mids on the infinities, then I channeled that harmful bass (harmfull for the stock speakers)to 3- 12'' kicker comps @ 1600 watts. really easy to do as well, and my system is the best around my local area.

I have an amp upgrade & two 12's in a box in the back hatch. No rattlle at all ( no Dynomat either). Definitely Bass heavy. Sounds ok to me, but I'm not totally into stereo systems ( just know what *I* like). The neighbors said, "You have the best stereo around" the other day. I found that funny, since the neighbor kids all have big bass set-ups. Maybe because I listen to the same 80's stuff they do.
I also have the stock sereo that has the 3 channel EQ, so maybe that helps me balance the sound better than the later stock head units?
Dunno, I know mine;s nothing fancy, but I like it. I guess how "detailed' you go depends on how "into" picking apart the components of the music you are. I, personally, am half deaf after years & years of concerts , listening ( at close range) to my husband play the electric guitar, going to see "garage bands" play & blaring the car stereo.

Man, i was listening to Peter Frampton today "feel like I do".
Felt like I was there. Really the first song I played on my system that I really enjoyed the sound balance
