1st wheell I likey. And yes better quality pads and rotors will decrease the squeal, but you must break/bed them in correctly and have them installed with rails and slides being nice and greased. In other words the grease monkey needs to take the time to clean your calipers then grease them up before they slap the new pads in.

A great low dust non ceramic or cermic blend pad that doesn't make as much noise as my full ceramic is the Hawk HPS. And if you have rear drums, if you are hearing them grind, its time to just have them cleaned out. I have to have mine checked every couple years since they start to make noise. Nothing is wrong they just get loud and grindy sounding.

And after a rain the first couple of stops its normal to hear brake noise. Its just the flash rust being ground off this is normal. For the PT we just really hear it for some reason.

Talking Re: Rim finishes?

Before those great rims go on your car ask a local rim specialty shop or your local high end car dealer (Porsche, Lambo, Mercedes) who they get there wheels clear coated by. If you get your wheels clear coated that nasty brake dust that you don't like to clean off won't make itself at home in your new rims. Supposed to make cleaning much easier. I was going to get it done but never did. Now mine are peeling so I have to get new ones or powder coat and paint the ones I have.

I like the first ones pictured myself!!
They look like a machined finish. I had that on my old wheels on the lips. It's not as bright as chrome, but it's nice & shiney. The machined finish will most likely be clear coated. Wash & wax just like the rest of the car (only wax a lot more often... it doesn't take long & is well worth it).

BTW- Ceramic pads make all the difference! I love 'em...and they last a lot longer & brake better than the OEM garbage too.
