Question Ptwoody....

I was recently made aware that you had made changes to the original chrome bumper design. There are many websites offering your chrome bumpers....each with different versions. I would like to know what they look like right now....and if they are the ones I'm thinking of, why did you do that to them. In my opinion this "newer" version look awful! Please post a picture of the version being made by you at this exact moment.

Differences I have noticed:
Front- one seen is totally smooth....other is smooth except for the slight grooves in the bumper.
Back- one seen is all chrome.....other has a chunk of chrome missing around the license plate.

Thanks.

Question

Has anyone, other than a few aftermarket shops like California Cruisers, received their chrome bumpers? I was at the Phoenix SuperCruise and you'd think that out of 134 Cruisers that someone would have these new bumper covers. I didn't see any, nor did anyone say if they had heard anything about when they would be getting them. You're right about the pictures of them. I've seen some different pictures lately, but I can't remember where I saw them. It would be nice if someone would tell us what's going on.

Cool

Hey, guys. I live about 15 minutes from PT Woody. Want me to take a ride over there, and find out the real skinny on their bumpers?

That would be nice of you Boo. I remember there was another chrome rear bumper that looked like the OEM too. That cut out rear one looks like h*ll.

Okay, I'm leaving right now, for PT Woody's. I'll find out everything I can, and see if there is a discount for PTE. Stay tuned. Back in about an hour.

Okay, I'm back, and I have the true story. First, the later versions of the bumper, with the indents in the front(like stock), and the cutout around the license plate, are the only style being offered by PTWoody. Blame Chrysler for this. It's a very long story, but except for two sets of the original style, all are the later style. The two original sets were removed from PTWoody's cars, and replaced by the new style. I asked if they would be offering the two used sets for sale, and they said no.
I also offered the following suggestion...make separate pieces, to cover the area next to the license plate, and..they liked it. They are going to look into making those pieces, as an add on to the bumper, and as a separate set, in case someone would just want chrome on those small pieces by the rear plate. They said they are getting a lot of heat from customers, because of the change in styles, but it was something beyond their control. The original tooling has been destroyed.
One reason for the change, is, using the original rear piece, the two pieces next to the plate, literally had to be ground down, for the chrome skin to fit properly. They really did like the idea of two separate pieces, but we'll see. Hope this helps clear up the confusion.
