Default Novice! CD Player doesn't like speed change

I've only posted once before; just got my Cruiser a couple of weeks ago, having driven a 1986 Chevy Sprint for 15 years....

My question has to do with the CD player. I'm not a big audiophile, but I do like having the tunes (my old CarCar had a broken antenna, a broken casette deck, and speakers that popped in and out). It's nice having the CD player, and it seems to work well over bumpy roads and potholes, but....

If I accellerate quickly (I'm NOT talking jack-rabbit starts; my dh says I drive like an old lady, but I like smooth starts and accelleration) the CD player loses track of where its at and starts the CD all over again. It's really touchy about this. Is this a common problem with the factory players, or is there something wrong with mine? -- Franki

I've had the same factory CD deck since I purchased my PT in June 2001, and I haven't experienced the problem you mentioned. I'd go to your dealership and get it checked out!

Yeah, my CD deck stayed the same, because any potential thief peering in the window is gonna think, "A factory CD player? Ha! Is THIS guy ever a loser! Think I'll avoid THIS car!"

However, I did a few mods: I tore out the so-called "Premium" speakers (on the back of each one it says "Premium, Mexico"!) and installed MB Quarts; of course my boom box now takes up most of the cargo area. Gotta have TUNES, ya know?

No problems with fast starts, bumps -no problems at all with factory system - go back to dealer & gripe!

Definitely a problem within the CD player. Have it exchanged under warranty.

Default Skipping CD's

I had that problem when I first got my Cruiser 5/31/01. It did it once in a while but stopped after a couple of weeks. Now it plays both factory and burned CD's just fine. I do put labels on my burned CD's but others have problems so it's your choice.
