Thanks for the view.

PT_Sean,
How good is the colour matching for the P-Blue?
I had a friend in the US get the REAL paint (PB7) from a dealer in the US, he sent me a couple cans. Only the US dealers sell the real stuff.

I guess you can try a body shop - the PB7 is also used with the Jeeps, Vans, and Neon I think- perhaps when they make up a batch for another vehicle, they could spray your dash pieces at the same time.... just means you have to be ready at a minutes notice.

Sean

NOTE- I have the Patriot Blue- I sat in the PT, and added a couple strips of BLACK tape to the compass pod... I noticed that my eyes were being pulled to the mirror! That is, normally the rear view mirror is clear, unless someone is on your arse. With the pod being DARK, its like your brain is saying SOMEONE IS ON YOUR ARSE- CHECK IT OUT! when there wasn't...

I am rethinking painting that part... Dash (center bezel) YES.

How did the painting go, PT_Sean?

You HAD to ask.....

Still trying to MASK off what I don't want to paint! Pesonally, i do not want to paint the vents. Both the driver and pass. side vents are the "grey" colour and I want to keep the center the same. Prob is, there is little for the masking tape to stick to.... I have restarted about 10 times. May revert to vaseline! (no- not for THAT reason! )

Will post developments.....

Sean, wash the parts thoroughly with soap and water,If you can, also wash it with a plastic cleaner (automotive type).
I don't know what you are trying to mask it with but the best thing would be a 3M fineline tape,it's blue and tends to keep it's shape around corners better than standard masking tape.

Thanks for the tips- I have washed the surface about 5 times already.

I am using both the green, low tack and standard beige, masking tapes.

I will look for the fineline stuff- that might be the trick!

I imagine body shop stores are the source for this tape??

The fineline sticks better only because it's thinner(width).
Most bodyshop supply stores should carry it.

Have you ever tried rubber cement? It's used quite often in airbrushing applications. The benefit is, of course, that you can paint it on. After dabbing a little where you need it, stuff the vents with some cotton batten (use spray adhesive on a piece of paper to make sure the cotton doesn't slip down the vent).

What do you think?
