Default Painting Splash Guards &

I'm thinkig of painting my front and rear splash guards as well as my rear step bumper protector. They will be painted Almond. My question is: Should I have them professionally done or just buy Almond spray cans + Clearcoat from my dealer? Do I need to use a plastic parts adhesion promoter? It does say that the adhesion promoter does not work with "Lexan" plastic. How do I find out if these parts are made of "Lexan"?

Lexan is a trade name for acrylic and sometimes polycarbonate plastics. Another trade name is Plexiglass. These are usually produced in sheet form by extrusion and not used for injection molded pieces like the splash guards or step pad. As long as the surface is well prepared you should have no problems with adhesion.
Sand all parts w/ 220 grit then move down to 400. If you wasn a perfect smooth finish I would suggest hitting it up w/ 600. Wipe the parts with alcohol or prep-sol if you have it to remove any dirt or oils.
Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

Adhesion promotor wouldn't hurt, but if prepped properly, you could get by without it. You will want to add flex agent to the paint though.

the rears you can get already painted for $50 at Fastlane Grafix . All depends on what your time is worth to you. Me - I'm not well talented with paint and don't have the time and patience.

Don't know about the front set but email the guys at the web site, maybe they can hook you up. I got my painted center console from them, nice work.

Seems to me they offer the front and rear splash guards, but they page only shows the rear. Long lead time with them now, 'bout 8 weeks. But, I'm not a painter either, so I'm on the list.

Yep, you're right - it says "front or rear" - I just didn't notice and there was no picture.

Their lead time for products should be going down real soon.

This was announced the other day on their web site:

Fastlane GrafiX & PT Accessories is now a FULL TIME BUSINESS!!!!
I spoke to my accountant and bank and as of 3/23/04 I quit my day job and this is now my only job. Now that I can devote 8 hours a day to this, all jobs pending will be going out within the next week or so and you will be able to expect a 2 week shipping on most jobs!
I'm also introducing new products to my inventory so check back often and see the new cool goodies I've got in store!!
I'd like to thank everyone for their compliments on my site and my work, it's TRULY a labor of love!!!

Feel free to email me if
you have ANY questions
