I own a Lt. Almond Pearl PT and I'm thinking of painting the dash top cover. Problem is the interior pieces on the almond Cruisers are painted Lt. Pewter Metallic, not Lt. almond pearl. I also had my center dash bezel painted in the Lt. Pewter to match the guage and air bag covers. If you don't look close you can hardly tell the color is different than the almond, however, when they're beside each other you can see a slight difference.
So the problem is do I paint the dash top Lt. almond pearl to match the exterior (plus I already painted my engine cowls Lt. almond pearl), or do I paint it Lt. Pewter to match the interior color pieces? Another consideration is that I have copper color flames on the exterior of my PT, and I might consider putting some of the same color flames on the dash top cover (even thought my wife said it will look dumb). I'm thinking at this point that I should go with the Lt. almond pearl so I have a continous look from the outside of the car (& since my engine cowls are painted that color), plus then any flames would be on the same color as my exterior. I would just have to live with the 2 colors being slightly off since they'll be next to each other on the interior. What do you think? Thanks, John

I'd go with the Lt. Almond Pearl. The slight contrast between the Lt. Almond Pearl and the Lt. Pewter would look nice. Sort of like it was ment to be that way,----- IMHO

Benermin if I could figure out how to post pics on this board since they did the update, I would. But I can't figure it out. Everytime I hit the upload buttom (after locating the pic in my files) it doesn't seem to show up when I post my message.
I had my center bezel painted at my local Chrysler dealer. They only charged me about $45 and they had to do it a couple times because they screwed it up. They said they wouldn't be doing any more painting of plastic parts, after their experience with mine. So I'm glad I got it done before they made that decision.

Could you by anychance email me some pictures? (then i can post them for you in this forum) but i really want to see how these things turn out - especally since you have the same interior color as me (i think) and i cant decide weather or not to paint the ac vents/knobs as well or to mask them off - also the window switch My main reason for wanting to do this is my center consol has some sort of cover peeling off of it - it is the same color under... whatever it is thats peeling off but it just seems to be smooth and shiny under neither and the cover has a bit of a texture to it It hard to notice unless you really look but everytime i remember or do notice it REALLY bugs me I'm also debating painting my reverse lights - just the red part - I hate that part for some reason - i may hold off because I have new taillights just not installed yet... BUT... i was wondering if i was going to paint them - if I'd need to sand it still? - Would i need a clear coat? - If i do need a clear coat should i clear coat the whole light or just what I paint? anyone answeres anything - that'd be great |

I Would Stay With Color You Already Have. Just My Opinion..
I Painted Center And Top Dash Black With Rainbow Metalflake To Match Hood And Upper Body Of Our Two Tone. Base Color Is Taupe So Our Air Bag Cover And Guage Pod Are Same As Yours , Pewter...... also painted steering wheel shroud to match......KRUZR2 Last edited by KRUZR2 : 19th January 2004 at 05:25 PM. |

I would say stick with the colors you already have been using, But since the pewter and almond are both very light colors I would be afraid of the glare on the windshield from the light reflecting up. I painted mine cranberry to match the car and I have a small spot of reflective light which does not bother me, but with a lighter color dash I would think this will be alot worse. For show purposes you could paint it and get an inexpensive fabric dash cover for day to day driving.

Hi John....you might think about doing this: get a color mixed that is slightly darker than your Almond color. It will blend in and look good from inside and out...and it might add an additional sense of interest to your interior. It won't glare as much as the lighter colors, that's for sure.
You might notice Chrylser used more than one shade of gray interior colors. So your effort would be obviously intentional. Then maybe pick that same color back up somewhere else? Good luck, I'm sure it will be nice whatever you decide on. ![]()

I would 2 tone the dash some how. Paint the front half the same as the out side and the back half the Pewter, with a pin stripe of some bright color to seperate them. It would look good eather way if the pinstripe goes with the curve of the windshield or straight across.
Then not only is it painted but it matches BOTH, not just one color. And it would be a bit more custom than simply painted.
