Default Painted center console

Well I painted the top dash and center console. I have now stripped out the Apillars and the floor console and Im in the process of sanding smooth. Im curious, if you have done this did you paint the inside of the cup holders and such or did you mask those areas off?
Ive only ever seen one other car done like this and he painted it all.
Im thinking of painting it all and then getting the billet 'fill ins' to flash it up even more.

Your center console looks very nice! ( http://home.earthlink.net/~alini/images/interior2.JPG )

How many coats and sandings did you do?

I thought the center dash area was a little dead, too, and that is the perfect way to remedy that.

Personally, I think the whole center console (where the shifter resides) is very ugly. I am not sure of the best way to dress it up, but it needs something (replaced? heh)

I saw a wood-style finish overlay for it that matched the wood-style dash overlays and it looked really nice. They did not have solid colours, though.

I think merely putting in the billet inserts would not wholly help--it would still look a little cheap and bland.

Painting the whole thing may be too much; I would like to see one done, though. I suppose it would depend on the colour--darker colours like yours would probably look nice. Mine, however, would definitely be too much tangerine.

I think billet inserts with your body colour would be very sharp and would not only contrast the cranberry nicely, but also blend with it as it reflects the body colour.

Keep us posted!

Thanks for you r compliment, the center dash is not deeply textured so a nice thick sandable primer is all you need. I did about three coats of everything, three primer, three paint three clear.
Here is a pic of the interior I saw where I got the idea to do the center console. I really love this interior but he did the entire center dash which is too much work to disassemble in my eye and I like the cream color since ti brightens the interior.

Wow! That guy did a lot of interior work! He left no stone unturned; even did the bottoms of the seats. Are there more pics of that ride online? Great for ideas and opening the creative mind.

I like the cream colour interior, too, it is so pleasant. When the dealer refused to negotiate on the price of the DC2, I was looking at '04's and I really liked that interior colour. The downside is that the H.O. turbo does not come in that colour, only the turbo "lite". I almost bought an '04 woody, but not fast enough. Then I found another DC2 in the next state...

Thumbs up

Just finished my Airbag / center / instrument consoles in black:

I want to get rid of the cream but, as someone has said, it is part of the structure of the dash so therefore I will have to paint it in situ (I use the car on a daily basis) - I am thinking of hand painting it so I don't get overspray mist thu-out the car

Damn Ali that is the nicest painted one I've seen. I was wondering if I bought an extra center dash console and sent it to you could you paint it cranberry for me? I'd be happy to pay as yours came out perfect. how hard is it to get the old one off and put the new one on?

I could paint one for you I guess, but why not do it yourself, thats what drives me to do anything to the car. Doing it yourself gives you bragging rights and pride in your own car.
If you are that serious about me painting one send me a PM and we can exchange details.
That picture is an old one, since then I have painted the top dash and no have the floor console and a-pillars sanded smooth, gonna put first coat of paint on tomorrow.
