Exclamation Chome bumper questions...help & pics needed..

I saw a PT today with all chrome bumpers, so I stopped to take a look.
I was shocked....the fit was HORRIBLE!

I want a set of these to cover up my tape marks, but would not accept the type of fit I witnessed . The chrome didn't cover the gray bumper at the top near the hatch ( under the tail lights), also they had a gap around the front edge of the bumper where it didn't meet the body.It was as plain as day that they were just stuck on . They didn't look at all like the quality pieces I'd expect for $700+. I'm wondering if this is how they fit? Or maybe it was just a poor install? Maybe they'd been taken off & put back on?Been in an accident? I dunno, but something was up.... BTW- These were the type with the indents. I am considering the smooth style, if I can find them.

If anyone has close ups of where your chrome bumper meets the body ( please mention the brand bumper you purchased) would you please post them?
I appreciate it, you'll be saving me a ton of $$ & a lot of heartache if this wasn't an unusual set.

Rachael, I can tell you I've seen a number of the chrome bumpers at PT shows and they all fit well. Hope an actual owner of the chrome bumpers does reply to this thread.

Here are some pics of mine:

I am very happy with mine. I bought them from DTS near Columbus, Ohio.

It sounds like the person that installed the ones you saw did not take the time to test fit first. I have heard complaints about bumper covers that did not fit correctly w/o some massaging first. Mine went on the first time perfectly and were very easy to install. I did it by my self in about a 1/2 hour. The longest time consumption was cleaning the original bumper to make sure the adhesive stuck properly.

I purchased the all smooth chrome bumpers, both front & rear , over a year ago from PT Tuning, and am very satisified with them. I dry fitted them to the vehicle before a final install, just to see how they fit and if any adjustments needed to be made. Total install time was under an hour and the fit is absolutely perfect. Although I show the car, (several
Firsts and Best of Show-MWR), it is a daily driver, including a lot of road miles and constant washing and polishing. The chrome bumpers look as nice as the day that I installed them, and with absolutely No problems! The fit is PERFECT. No closeup photographs, however, you can view it on PTE's calendar site-car #045. (Just a note-when I ordered mine, I had the option of buying the front bumper with or without the license plate holes pre-drilled-a consideration if you want-or-need to install a front license plate as you wouldn't want to drill out the chrome.) Hope this helps!

I ordered my chrome bumpers from Wyckoff Chrysler & they were shipped from PT Woody this spring. The install was easy & the front fit like a glove. You can see about 1/16" of the grey bumper if you look real close but it isn't noticable. The back bumper is another story. A full 1/4" of the grey is visable on each end plus a gap arond the lights. I caled Wyckoff & was refered to PT Woody & then to one of their installers. I was told this was quite common even on their installs. Wyckoff offered a refund but I really wanted them & I foolishly tossed the shipping boxes before the install. I've been living with it but may try to 3M tape some chrome trim to finish it up when I get a little time. I didn't receive any adhesive & it wasn't mentioned on the instructions so I may see if a body shop has any tricks for a tighter fit. I added the chrome pillow covers & love the look just wish the back fit like the front. Sorry no pic.

I appreciate the feedback. The one's I saw must've been PT Woody's set, the gap on the back bumper sounds exactly like what I saw. The front looked as if it has been bent by tugging. So, I assume that that could be 'massaged' out , or at least made a bit better.
The front sounds easier to fit, but then, it is a smaller bumper.
GREAT Pics Marty. That's what I needed to help me decide that I still want them. Your PT looks great, as do your bumpers!
Thanks again, all.
