Question I need advice on color changing gauge faces

I want to get some new gauge faces and what I'm looking for are the white face, 6 to 8 color blue/green illumination. Would also like to be able to adjust the brightness.
I don't want the reverse glow because the only ones I've seen, only 2 of the 3 faces have the illuminated center. Looks kinda uneven.

To anyone who has installed these faces,
I was wondering if on the brand of gauge faces that say you have to remove the needles of the OEM gauges to install them, would it be possible to carefully enlarge the holes in the gauges with fine sandpaper or something instead of removing the needles?
Is there any way around the issue of having to remove the needles?

It seems the only ones I like are a set sold by procarparts.com. I believe you have to remove the needles to install them.
Maybe there's some other ones out there I don't know about ???

THANKS for any advice

I believe there's a section on PT do it yourself, that explains how to do this

I have them ! the are really 2 color, blue and green. the other colors are obtained with the dimmer rotary knob. The controls are seprate of the PT dash lights and come wired into a tiny box with a switch on one side and the dimmer onthe other. Ill post pics later this morning.

The only needle you need to remove is eather the gas or temp. the holes are already big enuf to squeeze over the needle head. You can leave on the OEM faces as well,as they create thier own light and no longer need the light from the dash. It may be possable to do the gas/temp guage with out removing eather needle but you may need help to do it.

It is a lot easier to do than to explain how to do it. I took about 1 1/2 hours to do it. but since it was the first time i had the dash apart i went slow checking every thing out as i went. I f i was to do it again I could do it in about 15-20 minutes.

PM me if you want more help!

I've checked out ptdoityourself and that did answer alot of my questions. Thanks

Mark1,
I 've kinda narrowed down the ones I want to the ones sold by procarparts.
******* Are those the ones you have ? ******

To further add to my confusion, procarparts has them on Ebay for a "buy it now" price of $32.95 says they are 8 color.
At their on line store they have what looks like the same set for $59.95 and it says they are 6 color.
I've emailed them for an explanation but they haven't had time to get back to me.

There just seems to be too many gauges from too many sources out there and I want to be sure I'm buying what I think I'm buying,ha,ha.

My BIG concern is removing the needles. No problem removing the fuel gauge needle, but ALL of them ? I can see alot going wrong.

Thanks alot for your help

I have that exact kit that you are looking at on ebay, I bought my kit from them as well. First, this is not an easy kit to install. It took me 4 hours to complete the whole installation. The only need that you need to remove is the Temp needle. I do not recommend that you cut or shave the holes on the new gauges because you might be able to see the opening once they are over the needles. The gauges look awesome once you are finished with the whole installation but you only get variations of Blue and Green, not Violet or Indiglow Blue as they indicate on the auction. PM me with any questions, I have alot of tips that will help your installation.

Man... I took my time and it only took 1 1/2 hours. Mabie your kit is a lot more involved than mine. I have the Speedglow. I was suprised at the ease of install with mine. I feared it for 3 weeks, with the faces sitting on my desk for ever before i decided to eather put them on or get rid of them. I honestly think i could do it again in around 20 minutes if i had to do it again.

Hey guys,
THANKS for your help. I bought the set they had on Ebay and know they're going to look great.

Markus-X-------------- you mentioned the Autometer "C-2" gauges. I had not seen those,
last night I found some pictures of them and they are REALLY beautiful.
Sure would look great with the new faces. Too bad I already have the Phantom gauges.
