Default I Should Have Known Better

I decided to take my bra off today. Hubby offerd to help(this is a clean post I'm talking about my car)
He had just got home from work & was comfy in his favorite chair I said no I can do it .You look comfy if I need help I'll come get you.

This was first time I did by myself. I took it off no problem. Carefully folded it up put it in the back of the Cruiser. Feeling all proud of myself I went to close the hood.

YOU GUESSED IT I BET !!!! GRAUMPHHH
I forgot about the hood prop. I knew as soon as I felt the resistance what stupid thing I had done. It's kinda like like realizing you locked your self out a nanosecond after you closed the door.

I should have known beter. Months before I bought the PT I read about this problem.I've read many many post about this--I told hubby about it. We've discussed it at length several times.
But of coarse when I had $ for mods I wanted something shiny first. So even though I knew I should get the hood lifts I put it off.

Back to the drive way. So there I am holding the hood cursing trying to get the hood prop out. Oh maybe i can get it out without having to confess to hubby stupid thing I did.
Wouldn't budge .... look for damage to car ... well everything looks O.k ...Please God let it be O.k. Tried some more...no luck ... well I know enough about cars to know not to force it. Well I can't let the hood down or it could cause more damage. But how do I get hubby out here ????
I had keys in my pocket so I hit the panic alarm (how appropriate) Luckily I'm married to a smart guy my knight in shining armor came out to see what was going on. After some wrestling getting a couple different tools some more cursing he got it off .Carefully closed hood HALLELUIAH IT CLOSED !!! Hubby checked for damage hood pulled out a small fraction I couldn't tell but eagle eye hubby did.

THE GOOD No noticeable damage except to the piece of @#!%prop--Hubby didn't yell at me--I remained calm but know I was in deep doo doo --Hubby came to rescue me

THE BAD Showed underneath all this long dark hair lurks a blonde. My maintainence duties most likely will be restricted to only the inside of the car. Maybe even just the glove box

THE UGLY I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER One momentary memory lapse could have caused major damage to my car. I am so mad at me

So moral of the story--- When you read numerous posts about a problem don't just say I should fix that & then put it off.
DO IT RIGHT AWAY
Knowledge with out action= stupid

And last but not least A big thank you to the people here.
I do not post often but I read PTE forums everyday .
I have learned so much from you all.If I had not previously read about prop I am not sure I would have known what the problem was or how to fix it .From the posts I have read Blane has the best easiest to install lifts So he will be getting some of my hard earned $. And if getting the hood lifts is something YOU've been putting off I encourage you to take action. Don't end up like me. Beating yourself up because
I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER]

Glad to hear all it ok. At least you didn't kink the hood like many others have. Now is the perfect reason to get the lifts.

Best mod I ever purchased after watching a salesman in the showroom put a two inch bulge in the hood of a PT.

They way the courts work now a days we should sue Chrysler for the stupidity of not putting lifts in in the first place.

Wow glad no damage on your cruiser . I am going to put struts on both of mine this winter I double - triple check the strut is down before I close the hood . but you are right something like that happens so fast all you can do is hope for no bad results.
