I've ordered a black Nu Image flame guage face kit that I'm waiting to arrive.
I checked out PTDoItYourself.net and read their directions, along with the directions on the Nu Image web site. I can usually follow directions, but is this a job I don't want to tackle myself? Should I find a professional to install it instead? Any advice or things to watch out for from anyone who has install a kit would be appreciated.

eluxman, did you get the white or black guage face kit? Do you have any trouble seeing your engine lights through them? Did you disconnect your battery cable before installing them?
Also, does your wife own an almond PT Cruiser? I think I was talking to you at the Chrysler Carlisle show. John

Speaking of needles................
How did you chart your needles to reinstall them correctly? In other words, did you start up the car and wait a certain amount of time (how long?) & then record where the needles were at on the old guages face? Then after installing the new flame guage face kit, did you restart the car & wait that same amount of time to put the needles back on where you had recorded the information before you took them off? It seems the needles (temperature) could change continuously for a short time immediately after starting up the car, so wouldn't letting the car idle longer before recording their location on the guages be better? (I hope my question makes sense) ![]()

Best to do the install when you have something less than a full tank of gas.....also warm up the car and record where all your needles are from there......when you reinstall the cluster, make sure the car is warmed up to normal operating temp before you reinstall the temp needle. Also, keep in mind that the weight of the needle will make the needle drop a click or two before it settles into its final position (ie I installed the speedo needle at 28 mph when I was going 25 (dont try this at home...), now its off only 1mph at 70mph)
