Default low cost central locking w/remote

for the DIY the lowest I can find is---
JC WHitney- DOOR locking kits
kit for two door car - $40
shipping est $5

Crutchfield Crimeguard 328 system
kit has alarm, 2 remotes starter disable (need Xtra relay
for this), aux item remote (use this for doors?),
park lite relay, panic button, etc etc.
The output of the remote will control the receiver in
the car, and U will wire the power for your two front
doors to the door or the aux relay. an "all window up"
MAY be available.

[font=arial]
This item is $99
shipping est 10

If U want to deal with locks at all 4 car doors
add $40 for the JCW 4 dr kit
and add $20 if U want the JCW liftgate kit

Thanks for the info - I'll definitely check this out since it's less expensive than going to a shop or dealership.

M not sure if yoiu started that other thread but it got me thinking threre has to be a less exp way. Since I have base model too I may go with it.
The cheap cheap way is with the $99 alarm kit with remotes and only put a power lock on the drivers door, using the deck kit for $20!!!
Might be best, then later add another two or 3 doors.
Since I my PT usually has only me in it, that sounds like an option.
Hopefully anyone trying this method will let us know how it works.
Time wise I estimate a good afternoon to do it.

Lars, let us know how hard it is to do once you do yours. I've been thinking about doing it too but want to wait to hear from someone that's already done it.

Hmm, I bought my '01 PT Cruiser around a week ago.. It came with a remote that unlocks only the driver side door and has an alarm like lars talked about. Do you know if there's a way to wire it so it works for all doors or would you have to go and replace it with a 4 door kit? I searched a bit on these forums but found nothing!

P.S. I'm new to this place!

edit: my car doesn't have power locks.

Okay, I just took off my door trim from the back right hand side door and it has this pump thing connected to the lock with two electrical connections attached to it on the bottom of the pump thing and the electrical connections are connected to something in the front but I don't have power door locks. So, would this make it easier for me to somehow connect those connections from the rear door to the same place that my driver side door is connected to so that it would unlock along with my driver side door when I press the unlock button on my alarm remote? Whoa that was one long weird sentence but I bet you can figure it out 'cause I gotta go get more propane for the BBQ. Any feedback would be great. Thanks!

Congrats on the new PT and welcome to the forums. I haven't looked at my PT yet to see if I have any similar connectors... would be interesting to know.

Is your key fob what opens the door? Is it standard Chrysler? Hit the unlock twice quickly, and it should unlock all the doors. You can program it to open all doors with one push - you need both keys and the manual to do it.

Thanks, PTRobert! Well, I hit it twice like you said QuicksilverDon and nothing happened. I don't know what you mean by 'fob' but my remote for my alarm is what unlocks the driver side door when I disarm the alarm. It's just a regular chrysler, automatic, power sunroof, power windows, cd player, stuff like that but with no power locks. The alarm and remote is 'karr'. I don't see anywhere in the manual that says I can program it to open all doors.
