Default Circuit city dash kit sucks!!!!!!

I just got through installing my wifes mp3/cd head unit in her 2002 pt cruiser and i had to go to circuit city to get the dash kit /wiring harness/ antenna adapter, the kit is made by metra and personally i think a good bump and the plastic that holds the stereo is going to break. Does anyone else have this kit? the kit has two pieces that slide into the sides of the cover plate and they screw to the headunit, when i screwed them to the headunit they kind of bowed out a little, very cheapy for $16. Is the scosche kit any better?

The schosche kit is alot thicker around the mounting points. I installed a Kenwood unit about a year ago with no problems.

thanks, i just ordered a scosche kit from sounddomain for only $9.90 shipped, so even if it was the same i'm still saving money, i'm going to take the metra kit back to circuit city when i get the scosche, they also sold me a smart cable that was supposed to plug directly into the back of my jvc707 headunit, but it didn't, so i allready have to take that $16 part back, the wireing harness and antenna cable worked fine. Does the scosche kit have the little cd slot under the stereo or is it just a solid panel?

I think i have the Metra. I dont remember the bag it came in. But i have the CD case slot in mine. I thought the same thing that it is cheep plastic but once it was in it seemed a good bit stronger, and the texture was a great match.

Mine has the cd slot, it works fine, just were the side brackets connect to the front plate is kind of flimsy. it doesn't look like they could support the weight of the stereo, just drove to the local dominos with no problems and i have to drive down a crappy dirt road. I'm starting to wish i had bought this head unit for my truck, man it is cool, i love the tilt face, very usuable feature
