Default Alternate mounting of front license plate

I have a brand new PT Touring and I am interested in mounting the front license plate in a better way than the stock mount. The stock mount seems to stick out too far and it has a big impact on the looks.

I am not willing to run without the license (well, my wife doesn't want to drive without it really) so removing it entirely is not an option.

Can anyone give me any alternative mounting tips? Or even better a picture or web site?!?

Thanks in advance.

AndyB

I have seen many mount it many different ways, even mount it on the side somehow. My only concern with mounting it below the bumper as Cruisin1 has (although it looks very very nice) is restricting the air flow into the radiator. The last thing I want to do is have less fresh air running into the engine and it seems that mounting it below the bumper would restrict the air flow underneathe (maybe not restrict it a whole lot, but restrict it none the less). Good luck with whatever you decide.

Very little air that enters beloy the bumper gets to the rad. So it would not be a problem. Pep Boys and im sure other auto parts stores have one like above for $3.99 You will have to bend the tabs but you can save abiut $21 that way

The the kustom kruzer bracket is the best way to go. It's well made and fits perfectly. I've never seen anything like it at auto supply stores.

Default Thanks!

thanks a bunch for the ideas.

I like the lower mounting position better than stock.

I mounted my plate below the bumper last July. 20,000kms later no problem. I looked at the Kustom Kruzer bracket and I believe you have to drill holes in the bottom of the bumper to accomodate it.
Since I prefer to avoid drilling any holes in the car(another potential source for rust) I relocated the wire retaining brackets on the back of the bumper 180 to the bracket in front of the rad. Then I added two plastic wall plugs into the holes left in the back of the bumper from the harness retainers and screwed in two strips of steel(painted after bending). The strips only required two bends each and six holes drilled. From the back of the bumper down, forward between the lower grill and bumper and down to accomodate all four mounting holes on the plate.
